Pursuant to the provisions of the University of Jos Act, CAP U8, as amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2003, and in alignment with the Conditions and Scheme of Service applicable to senior staff, the Governing Council of the University has granted approval for the advertisement for the position of Vice-Chancellor.

The Chairman must demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills while maintaining objectivity and impartiality in all duties.
This role is responsible for upholding excellence in research, teaching, and learning, ensuring students’ admission processes, welfare provisions, and disciplinary standards meet the highest expectations.
Responsibilities
The Vice Chancellor oversees the Governing Council by managing the University’s human, financial, and material resources on a day-to-day basis. All administrative offices report directly to the Vice Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor is also responsible for fulfilling the following duties:
Uphold compliance with all applicable University Laws, Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations to ensure adherence to established policies and legal requirements.
Offer visionary strategic leadership to guide the university forward, ensuring alignment with its long-term objectives and fostering an environment of excellence and innovation.
Candidates should possess a comprehensive grasp of the University of Jos’s Vision and Mission, coupled with extensive and varied experience in all aspects of university administration.
Uphold the University’s operational efficiency and organizational integrity.
Exercise such authority as may reasonably be necessary within the bounds of the Law.
Tenute and Conditions:
This position is designated for a single, fixed term lasting exactly five years, with no possibility of extension or renewal.
Compensation and fringe benefits will align with those approved by the Federal Government for Nigerian Federal Universities, subject to any adjustments that may be implemented by the Governing Council of the University of Jos at its discretion.
