Purpose
The Staff Health Officer operates under the guidance of the HR Officer and the Staff Health Manager, overseeing all health-related concerns for CRC personnel in Amateur while providing 50% coverage for the Maiduguri Sub-delegation.
They champion and advance the CRC’s institutional strategy focused on decentralizing operational medical services, with the goal of improving efficiency, effectiveness, and local responsiveness.
This role will be primarily situated in Maiduguri, with monthly one-to-two-week assignments in Amateur.
As part of this role, you will be tasked with executing key accountabilities and fulfilling functional responsibilities integral to the position. Your duties will encompass a range of critical tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in core competencies while managing responsibilities with a high degree of accountability. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive performance and achieve strategic goals. Conducts a tailored evaluation of health risks pertinent to the specific context, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of potential hazards and their implications.
Conducts health briefings tailored to specific contexts for all newly hired CRC staff and provides debriefings for those departing from the organization.
Verify that all CRC staff vaccinations are administered in accordance with the staff health policy, taking into account the availability of local vaccines.
Conducts medical screenings for new hires and designated professional roles, as well as annual medical assessments to confirm fitness for duty among mobile staff.
Develop and facilitate awareness campaigns tailored to Staff Health initiatives for all Delegation staff.
Regularly conduct First-aid training sessions for staff members in Amateur, working in coordination with the State Health Management (SHM) and in collaboration with the National Society.
Review and validate the medical evacuation strategy for Damaturu, ensuring alignment with operational needs, and provide logistical support for Maiduguri.
Develops and maintains national benchmark frameworks essential to vertical health program initiatives.
Ensures the utmost confidentiality of medical records by strictly safeguarding all individual health information pertaining to CRC staff. With the explicit consent of the individual in question, such information may be disclosed solely among authorized medical personnel who are equally bound by medical confidentiality obligations.
Offers personalized medical follow-up for CRC staff members and their eligible dependents upon request.
Evaluates mental health requirements for individual cases and delivers immediate psychological assistance to team members in need of such aid.
Ensures colleagues in Amateur and Maiduguri receive appropriate referrals to mental health services.
Experienced professionals should possess comprehensive knowledge of sexual violence policies and be prepared to assist colleagues in such situations. This includes providing essential medical and mental health support as required.
Review and manage the medical reimbursement process for all employees and their dependents in Amateur while extending support to colleagues in Maiduguri.
Maintain strong communication and follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding with referral hospitals located in Amateur.
Review and process medical bills and invoices to guarantee prompt payments and reimbursements, concurrently assisting Damaturu colleagues with health-related responsibilities and facilitating collaboration with local healthcare providers.
Ensure the proper maintenance of cold chain protocols and precise temperature regulation for all medical inventory.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is mandatory. Additionally, possession of relevant industry certifications is required.
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) holders with at least three years of hands-on clinical practice are required.
Fluent proficiency in English is required.
Proven expertise in mental health practices and stress management techniques is required.
Proven background in medical evacuation and patient transportation services is required.
Proficiency in tropical health and public health systems is required.
Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Microsoft Office suite and internet-based applications is essential.
