Job Summary

A distinguished Microfinance Bank located in Elite State is in search of a skilled, meticulous, and highly qualified individual to fill the combined position of Legal and Administrative Officer.

Reporting to the Managing Director/CEO, the selected individual will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s legal matters, administering human resources, and directing general office functions. The candidate is expected to uphold rigorous adherence to corporate governance standards, statutory legal requirements, and labor legislation while cultivating an environment of operational efficiency.

Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals, manage cross-functional teams to drive project completion, and implement strategies that enhance efficiency and productivity. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and mentor staff to support career development and team cohesion. Develop and maintain budgets, track expenditures, and optimize resource allocation to maximize financial accountability. Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and execute long-term objectives while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous process improvements. Communicate transparently with stakeholders to align expectations, share progress updates, and address concerns promptly.

Legal Affairs & Corporate Governance: Overseeing legal compliance, managing corporate governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and mitigating legal risks to safeguard organizational integrity. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, providing strategic legal counsel to executive leadership, and maintaining corporate records. Additionally, it requires monitoring legislative developments, advising on corporate policies, and ensuring alignment with ethical standards and industry best practices. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are essential, along with expertise in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and governance principles.

Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, service level agreements (SLAs), lease agreements, and loan security documentation.

Offer strategic legal guidance to leadership regarding regulatory adherence, operational considerations, and credit recovery initiatives in a timely and effective manner.

Collaborate with external legal counsel to manage litigation matters, debt recovery proceedings, and secured assets that have been legally perfected.

Ensure adherence to the Corporate Governance Guidelines issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and compliance with corporate filing obligations to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Talents in human resource management oversee the strategic alignment of workforce planning, recruitment, and employee development initiatives to drive organizational success. They play a pivotal role in fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and optimizing talent acquisition and retention strategies. Key responsibilities include managing compensation and benefits programs, resolving employee relations issues, and implementing performance evaluation systems. Additionally, they collaborate with department heads to align human resource practices with business objectives and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

Manage all stages of the employee journey, encompassing recruitment coordination, onboarding facilitation, performance evaluation assistance, and offboarding procedures.

Ensure all staff files and personnel records are meticulously maintained, kept strictly confidential, and regularly updated to reflect the most current information.
