GENERAL INFORMATION:
CSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (CSI) is a global public health management consulting and research firm committed to enhancing individual and community health outcomes worldwide. Currently, CSI is executing the Routine Immunization Project across nine Nigerian states. The initiative aims to fortify routine immunization systems by systematically addressing persistent challenges that hinder progress in immunization coverage within supported states. Additionally, it seeks to eliminate barriers preventing zero-dose and under-immunized children from accessing critical vaccines and essential health services, particularly in urban slums and hard-to-reach areas.
SUMMARY:
The State Immunization Technical Advisor will provide direct support to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency or Board (SPHCDA/B) team within the assigned State in Nigeria, offering strategic leadership to facilitate the planning and execution of national priority initiatives at both state and local government area (LGA) levels. This role will involve close collaboration with the JSI team to deliver comprehensive technical assistance for vaccination programs and Routine Immunization efforts, pending final approval.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive organizational growth and efficiency, overseeing cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company objectives. Lead project management efforts, including planning, execution, and monitoring, while maintaining rigorous quality standards and adherence to deadlines. Collaborate with senior leadership to assess performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and recommend data-driven solutions. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, mentoring employees to enhance their skills and professional development. Oversee budgetary allocations, resource distribution, and operational workflows to optimize productivity and cost-effectiveness. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards across all business activities. Serve as a key liaison between departments, facilitating seamless communication and coordination to achieve collective goals.
The State Immunization Advisor will offer expert guidance and support to the State Public Health Coordination Division (PHCD) as well as other local collaborators.
Provide expert technical guidance at a strategic level to SPH CDA/B and engage collaboratively as a key participant in relevant technical subcommittees and working groups focused on routine immunization initiatives.
Collaborate with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHC DA) and technical partners to conduct assessments of immunization initiatives within the designated state, ensuring accurate and comprehensive evaluations. Support the preparation of high-quality reports for submission to the national level, maintaining rigorous standards throughout the process.
Collaborate with SPH CDA/B technical working groups and subcommittees to define and align state-level support with national strategies, including Zero Dose Reduction and the Measles Rubella Switch.
Deliver technical support in evaluating program effectiveness by partnering with stakeholders to gather and assess data, track performance metrics, and assist SPH CDA/B in strategic decision-making for the development and execution of corrective measures.
Deliver strategic connections between CSI and local collaborators, including NGOs and other stakeholders, to activate and sustain their engagement while offering essential support and technical guidance to program initiatives. Collaborate closely with these partners to guarantee comprehensive technical assistance at every operational level.
Oversee the preparation and submission of reports to CSI and its partners, encompassing both routine updates and comprehensive final deliverables.
Maintain consistent communication with both the CSI Nigeria leadership team and the CSI global Immunization practice team via email, phone, Slack, or other designated channels.
Reporting to the CSI Nigeria Immunization Project Director, provide leadership for state-level implementation efforts, directing and mentoring the CSI state team to execute project activities effectively at the state level.
Perform additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management from time to time.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field, complemented by a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, along with familiarity with database management systems like SQL or NoSQL. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
A master’s or doctoral degree in public health, nursing, or an equivalent discipline, coupled with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in public health program administration, is required.
Proficiency in the principles and practices of immunization programming, carcinology, and maternal and child health is essential.
A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in team leadership roles, coupled with a proven ability to deliver strategic guidance to governmental bodies and collaborating partners, alongside at least five years of involvement in public health and primary healthcare initiatives.
Proven expertise in implementing immunization initiatives across diverse environments, including urban and rural communities.
Proficiency in the organizational structure of Nigeria’s Ministry of Health is essential.
Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office applications is required.
Proficient command of the English language is essential.
