POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a candidate for FSN: 9, a position that requires strong organizational and communication skills. The ideal applicant must possess at least three years of relevant experience in a fast-paced office environment, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Additionally, the role involves managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating schedules, preparing detailed reports, and supporting senior staff in various administrative duties.
A six-month consultancy engagement is available, with the possibility of an extension based on performance and project requirements.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
CSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (CSI) is a global public health management consulting and research organization committed to enhancing the health of individuals and communities worldwide. Currently, CSI is executing the Routine Immunization Project across nine states in Nigeria. The project aims to fortify routine immunization systems by addressing longstanding challenges that hinder progress, including stagnating and declining immunization coverage in supported states. Additionally, it seeks to dismantle barriers preventing zero-dose and under-immunized children in urban slums and remote communities from accessing essential vaccines and healthcare services.
SUMMARY:
The State Immunization Technical Advisor will serve as a key resource to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency or Board (SPH CDA/B) team within the assigned state in Nigeria, offering strategic guidance to strengthen the planning and execution of national priority initiatives at both state and Local Government Area (LGA) levels. In close partnership with the CSI team, the advisor will contribute to all facets of vaccination and Routine Immunization technical assistance, subject to approval.
Responsibilities include managing daily operations, ensuring all projects are completed on schedule, and overseeing a team of professionals to maintain productivity and efficiency. You will be tasked with developing and implementing strategic plans, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Additionally, you will coordinate with various departments to align goals, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive organizational success. Regular reporting and data analysis will be required to track progress and make informed decisions.
The State Immunization Advisor will deliver specialized technical support to the State Public Health Coordination Division (PHCD) and other key local partners.
Act as a key strategic technical advisor to the SPH CDA/B, while serving as an engaged participant in relevant technical subcommittees and working groups focused on routine immunization initiatives.
Collaborate with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHC DA) and technical partners to conduct comprehensive assessments of immunization initiatives within the designated state, subsequently contributing to high-quality reports submitted to the national level.
Collaborate effectively with the SPH CDA/B technical working groups and subcommittees to help establish and align state-level initiatives with national strategies, with a focus on reducing Zero Dose cases and facilitating the Measles Rubella Switch.
Provide technical support in evaluating program performance through systematic analysis. Partner with stakeholders to gather and assess data, track progress, and assist SPH CDA/B in strategic leadership for the development and execution of corrective measures.
Foster collaborative relationships between CSI and local partners, including NGOs and other relevant organizations, to enhance mobilization efforts and deliver comprehensive support and technical assistance to program initiatives. Collaborate closely with these entities to ensure robust technical support is provided at every level of program implementation.
Oversee the preparation and submission of reports to CSI and our partners, encompassing both routine updates and final deliverables.
Maintain consistent communication with the CSI Nigeria leadership team and the global Immunization practice team at CSI through various channels, including email, phone, and Slack.
Reporting to the CSI Nigeria Immunization Project Director, you will provide leadership in delivering state-level support while managing and guiding the CSI state team to effectively execute project activities at the state level.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed, including, but not limited to, tasks that may be assigned from time to time to support operational or organizational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, or mathematics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Prior experience in software development, data analysis, or a related technical discipline is highly preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Candidates should also demonstrate a keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
An advanced degree in public health, nursing, or a related discipline, complemented by over five years of hands-on experience in public health program management, is required.
Proficiency in immunization programming, carcinology, and maternal and child health is essential.
Requires a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in team leadership roles, along with a proven ability to deliver strategic direction to government bodies and external partners. Additionally, applicants must possess at least five years of experience in public health and primary healthcare settings.
Proven expertise in immunization initiatives across diverse geographical landscapes, encompassing both urban and rural environments.
Demonstrated understanding of the organizational structure and operational framework of the Ministry of Health in Nigeria.
Proven proficiency in leveraging the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
Proficient command of the English language is essential for this role.
