POSITION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for managing the full spectrum of FSN (9) operations, this role encompasses strategic planning, execution, and oversight of designated functions to ensure seamless workflows and adherence to organizational objectives. Key responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional teams, optimizing resource allocation, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in utilizing industry-specific tools and software. Additionally, strong leadership capabilities, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this position.
We offer a six-month consultancy assignment, with the possibility of an extension based on performance and project requirements.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
CSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (CSI) is a global public health management consulting and research organization committed to enhancing individual and community health outcomes worldwide. Currently, CSI is executing the Routine Immunization Project across nine Nigerian states. The project’s primary objectives are twofold: first, to achieve sustainable improvements in routine immunization programs by addressing persistent challenges that have hindered progress and contributed to stagnant or declining vaccination rates in supported states, and second, to overcome obstacles that prevent zero-dose and under-immunized children in urban slums and hard-to-reach communities from accessing life-saving vaccines and essential health services.
SUMMARY:
The State Immunization Technical Advisor will provide direct support to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency or Board (SPH CDA/B) team in the assigned Nigerian state, offering strategic leadership to strengthen the planning and execution of national priority initiatives at both state and Local Government Area (LGA) levels. Additionally, the Advisor will collaborate closely with the CSI team to deliver comprehensive technical assistance for vaccination programs and Routine Immunization initiatives, pending official approval.
Oversee a range of critical duties encompassing planning, execution, and evaluation to ensure optimal performance and alignment with organizational objectives. Develop and implement strategic initiatives while maintaining rigorous adherence to established policies and procedures. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to cultivate a cohesive work environment and enhance productivity. Monitor progress through systematic assessments and provide actionable feedback to drive continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards to mitigate risks and uphold operational integrity. Foster innovation by identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing sustainable solutions.
The State Immunization Advisor will deliver specialized technical guidance to the State Public Health Chronic Disease (PHCD) unit and various local collaborators.
Act as a key strategic technical advisor to SPH CDA/B and contribute as an engaged participant in relevant technical subcommittees and working groups focused on routine immunization efforts.
Collaborate with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHC DA) and technical partners to conduct comprehensive evaluations of immunization initiatives within the assigned state and help prepare high-quality reports for submission to the national level.
In partnership with the SPH CDA/B technical working groups and subcommittees, you will play a key role in shaping and aligning state-level initiatives with national strategies, including the Zero Dose Reduction and Measles-Rubella Switch campaigns.
Provide technical assistance in evaluating program performance through systematic analysis. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to gather and assess data, track key performance indicators, and support the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPH CDA/B) in strategic leadership roles. This includes contributing to the planning and execution of corrective measures to enhance program effectiveness.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local organizations, including NGOs, to facilitate collaboration and engagement in program initiatives. Coordinate efforts with these partners to deliver essential support and technical expertise, ensuring alignment with program activities and objectives at every level.
Oversee the preparation and submission of reports to CSI and our partners, encompassing both routine updates and comprehensive final deliverables.
Maintain consistent communication with the CSI Nigeria leadership team as well as the global Immunization practice team via email, phone, or Slack.
Reporting to the CSI Nigeria Immunization Project Director, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for state-level implementation, ensuring seamless execution of project activities by directing and supervising the CSI state team members.

Requires a minimum of five years of hands-on leadership experience in a team management role, along with a proven ability to offer strategic direction to government entities and partner organizations. Additionally, applicants must possess at least five years of professional experience in public health and primary health care.
Professional experience in immunization initiatives across diverse urban and rural environments is essential.
Proficiency in the organizational framework of the Ministry of Health in Nigeria is required.
Proven proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office suites is essential.
Proficient command of the English language, both written and verbal, is essential.
