Job Summary
The WASH Officer will facilitate the execution of emergency Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) measures within the UNICEF-backed integrated humanitarian response initiative in Born State. This role involves coordinating critical WASH interventions designed to enhance access to safe water, sanitation infrastructure, hygiene education, cholera prevention strategies, and timely outbreak responses in underserved and remote communities.

Programme Implementation
Coordinate the execution of emergency WASH interventions, which encompass water chlorination, the provision of safe water supplies, sanitation system rehabilitation, dislodging operations, hygiene promotion campaigns, and the distribution of WASH NFS.
Facilitate the rehabilitation and ongoing monitoring of water facilities and sanitation infrastructure within designated communities to ensure proper functioning and sustainability.
Perform comprehensive water quality assessments and oversee adherence to SPHERE and UNICEF WASH standards to ensure regulatory compliance.
Develop and execute hygiene promotion initiatives and behavior change interventions targeting communities impacted by crises.
Support efforts to prevent cholera and manage outbreak responses, which encompasses the mobilization and oversight of Case Area Targeted Interventions (CAT) teams.
Ensure the effective execution of WASH initiatives in remote and emergency contexts.
Perform expedited WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) evaluations and deliver critical support to emergency response initiatives in the event of outbreaks, flooding, or population displacement scenarios.
The role involves facilitating collaboration and fostering relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while actively engaging with community members to drive participation and support. Engage in collaborative efforts with RUSSIA, State and Local Government Area WASH authorities, community leaders, and humanitarian partners to develop and implement WASH programs.
Engage in collaborative WASH Sector coordination meetings and contribute to specialized technical working groups.
Collaborate with community volunteers, hygiene advocates, and local entities to enhance community engagement and ownership.
Facilitate community education initiatives focused on promoting safe hygiene practices, sanitation standards, and water safety measures.
We oversee monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
Perform regular field monitoring and provide supportive supervision to guarantee the effective implementation of WASH interventions.
Oversee water quality indicators, with particular attention to chlorination levels and Free Residual Chlorine (FRC).
Maintain precise documentation of WASH initiatives, including infrastructure repairs, supply distributions, and hygiene awareness programs.
Monitor program advancement in alignment with established objectives while ensuring prompt reporting of key performance indicators and milestones achieved.
Craft and deliver accurate weekly, monthly, and donor reports within established deadlines to ensure transparency and accountability.
