The STEM Trainees will provide technical assistance to Sephora’s critical energy access initiatives in Nigeria, reporting to the Program Manager, Gender & Youth. The position involves conducting data analysis to inform energy planning efforts and contributing to the implementation of renewable energy financing mechanisms.

Functions / Key Results Expected

The STEM Trainee will join a cohort based in Nigeria, with the program centered on the following key areas:

Technical Support and Operations encompass the provision of assistance to clients encountering technical challenges, alongside the oversight and management of systems to ensure seamless functionality. This role involves diagnosing issues, resolving them efficiently, and maintaining operational efficiency through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting. Additionally, professionals in this field are responsible for documenting technical processes, updating systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery and minimize downtime.

Deliver technical assistance to advance energy initiatives that are both gender- and youth-inclusive in their design and execution.

Assist the project team by coordinating essential activities, meetings, and resources to ensure the effective implementation of energy-focused initiatives.

Conduct on-site evaluations, including energy audits, site visits, and needs assessments, as part of in-country operational initiatives.

Provide comprehensive support and deliver training sessions for the financial platform, ensuring users understand its functionalities and can utilize it effectively.

Assist in the execution of the Sustainable Energy Finance Developers Platform by meticulously reviewing and verifying the accuracy of project data entries.

Assist the project team in crafting training curricula and knowledge-sharing resources tailored for developers, financial institutions, and policymakers.

Assist in constructing financial models by evaluating cost frameworks and comprehending how various funding sources (such as grants, debt, and equity) influence project feasibility.

Collaborate with the team to monitor financing commitments and identify evolving funding mechanisms within the clean energy sector.

Monitor surveillance systems and equipment to ensure continuous oversight of operations, promptly identifying and addressing any irregularities or security breaches. Conduct regular checks of monitoring devices, including cameras, sensors, and alarms, to verify functionality and optimal performance. Maintain detailed logs of observations, incidents, and responses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols. Analyze data and alerts to detect potential risks, taking immediate corrective action when necessary to mitigate threats. Collaborate with security teams and relevant personnel to implement preventive measures and enhance monitoring efficiency. Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve surveillance capabilities and maintain high standards of security.

Assist project collaborators with gathering data and conducting market research focused on climate finance trends.

Assist in analyzing data, tracking platform performance, monitoring user experience and feedback, and generating regular project reports.

In the realm of Climate Finance, Policy, and Advocacy, your role will involve active participation and strategic contribution to initiatives that drive sustainable financial practices, shape environmental regulations, and champion impactful advocacy efforts. You will be expected to collaborate with stakeholders across sectors, analyze policy frameworks, and develop innovative solutions to accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon economy. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting research, engaging in stakeholder consultations, and implementing advocacy campaigns to influence decision-makers and mobilize support for climate action.

Facilitate efforts aimed at advancing sustainable energy finance while monitoring and documenting financial commitments within the clean energy sector.

Examine the viability gaps and assess the impact of diverse financial instruments on the advancement of sustainable energy initiatives.

Engage in advocacy campaigns aimed at enhancing awareness of sustainable energy finance policies while providing assistance in stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Develop and execute comprehensive communications and social media strategies to enhance brand visibility, engage target audiences, and drive meaningful interactions across digital platforms. Oversee the creation and dissemination of compelling content, including posts, graphics, and videos, tailored to resonate with diverse stakeholders. Monitor analytics to assess performance metrics, refine approaches based on insights, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate messaging, maintain consistency in tone, and amplify reach. Stay abreast of industry trends, platform updates, and best practices to optimize engagement and maximize impact. Manage community interactions, respond to inquiries, and cultivate a positive online presence that reflects the organization’s values and mission.

Leverage various social media platforms to enhance the visibility of projects, highlight sustainability initiatives, and advance advocacy campaigns.

Develop and distribute captivating digital content—such as posts, videos, and graphics—tailored for various social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Trainees are also required to engage in daily tasks and approved site visits, alongside participating in additional training sessions coordinated by Sephora.

Training may encompass a variety of instructional components and educational elements, including—but not limited to—comprehensive modules, interactive workshops, hands-on exercises, and supplementary resources designed to enhance knowledge retention and practical application.

Deliver soft skills training programs designed to enhance the professional growth of STEM Trainees.

Career advancement opportunities, including resume refinement, interview preparation, networking strategies, and mentorship programs, are provided.

Professional communications and social media training will be provided to enhance strategic messaging and digital engagement capabilities.

Conduct technical training programs aimed at deepening comprehension of the energy sector, with particular emphasis on project operations and climate finance.

Proficiency in energy implementation strategies, gender- and youth-responsive energy initiatives, and site assessment methodologies is required.

Proficient utilization of financial modeling tools, viability assessments, and data platforms is essential to effectively analyze and evaluate financial scenarios.

Experience with monitoring tools and frameworks, including market research, performance tracking, and reporting, is required.

Climate finance mechanisms and capital structures essential to energy initiatives are introduced, providing foundational knowledge of their frameworks and applications.

We seek candidates with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Additionally, advanced degrees or specialized certifications may be preferred for certain roles.

Required:

Candidates must either be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline—such as sciences, renewable energy, engineering, data science, geographic information systems, or a related field—or have completed such a program within the past three years.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a related field, demonstrating a track record of success in similar roles. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience is required. Familiarity with project management methodologies and compliance regulations is highly desirable.
