Responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The Operations Assistant (Field Support) will provide essential support to migrants at the Transit Center, facilitate arrival assistance at the airport, profile migrants using Mimosa, and coordinate transportation activities.

Deliver field support services within designated locations, including airports, transit hubs, or third-party facilities, as they pertain to transportation operations.

Provide comprehensive airport services by facilitating arrivals, verifying passenger identities and travel documentation, and assisting with all formal airport procedures—including flight arrivals, curbside support, check-in, baggage handling, immigration processes, and security screenings. Escort arriving passengers to ground transportation options and departing passengers to their respective gates while visually confirming flight departures. Ensure individuals with special needs or mobility equipment receive tailored assistance, and, when necessary, transmit notifications through designated systems.

Assist individuals at transit centers or third-party facilities by managing their arrival, stay, and departure processes. Upon arrival, facilitate sign-in, identity verification, orientation, distribution of food and non-food items, and room assignments. During their stay, provide food and non-food items, instructions, briefings, activities, and address any concerns that may arise. At departure, assist with medical appointments, return travel, or onward travel by offering briefings, luggage support, and coordination with transportation services. Enter and update relevant data into the designated systems while ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive support that prioritizes their safety, security, and comfort. Promptly escalate any issues to the appropriate supervisor(s) for resolution.

Offer support at transit centers and third-party facilities for extended durations, including overnight shifts lasting up to 12 hours, while addressing the needs of individuals throughout their stay. Promptly notify third-party facility representatives and/or supervisors of any arising issues.

Assist in organizing transportation services from airports, transit centers, MHC facilities, and third-party locations by coordinating with service providers, verifying identities, confirming readiness, and arranging individuals for transport, while also delivering necessary briefings. Support baggage sorting, tagging, and handling duties, and accompany transported individuals as required. Ensure individuals with special needs receive proper accommodations, and promptly report any concerns or issues to supervisors.

Offer interpretation services to individuals at airports, transit centers, and third-party facilities, as well as during transport.

Offer consistent updates on work progress to the Senior Operations Assistant, supervisors, and colleagues while promptly notifying supervisors of any issues that demand their immediate attention.

Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all pertinent documentation in strict adherence to established conduct standards and data protection regulations. Notify the Senior Operations Assistant or senior management promptly of any deviations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or codes of conduct by IOM personnel or affiliated partners.

Execute any additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is mandatory for applicants. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional qualification. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to perform the role effectively. Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities are also necessary. Additional certifications or specialized training in the field may be advantageous.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline—such as psychology, education, or social work—or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced degrees, including a master’s or doctorate, are preferred, especially for supervisory or specialized roles. Applicants must possess a valid state teaching or professional certification where applicable. Continuing education credits or professional development courses may be necessary to maintain license or enhance expertise in the field.

A bachelor’s degree in social work, economics, business administration, or a related field, coupled with at least two years of progressively responsible professional experience, is required.

Experience

A background in movement operations, transportation, or management is highly beneficial.

A minimum of two years of professional experience is required, along with a first-degree qualification in a relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with progressive, pertinent experience at a UN agency, international non-governmental organization (INGO), or non-governmental organization (NGO).

Proficiency in emergency and disaster response protocols would be highly beneficial for this role.

A proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural team comprising individuals from varied professional backgrounds is essential.
