The Role
As the Accountant, your role will involve overseeing the hotel’s daily financial activities, ensuring adherence to international hospitality accounting standards and Nigerian tax regulations. Collaboration with department heads and senior leadership will be essential to drive profitability while upholding stringent financial precision.
Oversee and execute a range of critical duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives. Analyze operational data to identify trends, optimize processes, and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and productivity. Lead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices in all operations. Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to align business goals with customer and partner expectations. Prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior leadership, outlining performance metrics, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
Prepare precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as well as detailed profit and loss reports with meticulous accuracy.
Cost Control & Budgeting: Oversee hotel expenditures meticulously, evaluate financial variances, and collaborate closely with the Food & Beverage and Operations teams to optimize inventory management and minimize waste.
Oversee the nightly revenue audit function by meticulously reconciling and accurately recording all room, banquet, and ancillary revenues to ensure precise financial reporting.
Ensure the accurate and prompt filing and remittance of all statutory deductions, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), and Corporate Income Tax (CIT), in strict adherence to Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIES) regulatory requirements.
Cash Flow Management: Responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and providing daily cash flow forecasts.
Develop and enhance internal control policies to ensure the protection of hotel assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.
What We Are Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
A relevant qualification such as ACA, ARCA, or CPA is an essential requirement for this position.
A minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience within the hospitality sector is required.
Proven expertise in hospitality enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, QuickBooks, and advanced-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
Exceptional analytical abilities, elevated emotional intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality are essential.
