Crafting strategic operational communications and documenting observations with integrity are essential duties within this role.

The role involves developing and overseeing country-level communications strategies, working under the guidance of Heads of Mission and in conjunction with Communications Advisors (CA’s) or the Field Communications Coordinator, where applicable. Responsiveness to operational demands, emergencies, and crisis situations is essential, alongside strong prioritization skills to ensure effective execution.

Monitors developing events in MSF project locations that could necessitate public statements from the organization.

Collaborates with Communications Advisors or the Field Communications Coordinator, as appropriate, to design and refine a Country Communications Framework (CCF), ensuring it comprehensively captures all operational communications priorities within the country.

Establishes comprehensive frameworks for crisis communication protocols tailored to local contexts.

In crisis situations, provides prompt guidance and content to journalists, the MSF communications network, and for public dissemination, adhering to the MSF Emergency Communications Framework and, when necessary, the Emergency Fundraising Policy.
