Job Summary

The Accountant will oversee the company’s financial operations, guaranteeing precise financial reporting, adherence to regulatory standards, efficient budget management, and rigorous cost control across all production lines.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of accounting proficiency, along with hands-on experience in manufacturing or agribusiness settings, and the capacity to deliver timely financial insights that enhance strategic business decisions.

Oversee a diverse range of critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to drive organizational success. Develop and implement comprehensive policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Lead cross-functional teams to foster collaboration, streamline processes, and achieve key performance indicators. Monitor and assess departmental performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing transparent communication and aligning business objectives with evolving market demands. Ensure resource allocation is optimized to support growth initiatives while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Compile daily financial reports encompassing cash flow summaries, revenue analysis, and expenditure tracking.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with established accounting standards and regulatory guidelines.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established financial policies and procedures.

Perform reconciliation of bank statements, ledgers, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and alignment.

Process payroll while accurately calculating and deducting statutory contributions such as PAYE, pension contributions, the National Housing Fund (NHF), Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT), and other required remittances.

Perform ongoing oversight of budget performance and analyze discrepancies between projected and actual expenditures.

Responsibilities include overseeing inventory valuation and maintaining accurate cost accounting records to ensure financial transparency and compliance with established standards.

Design and execute internal financial controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency. Establish robust frameworks to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and maintain accurate financial reporting in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Ensure seamless coordination of external audits and adherence to tax compliance requirements.

Assist leadership in developing financial projections and conducting budgetary planning initiatives.

Ensure adherence to IFRS standards and relevant Nigerian financial regulations at all times.

The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, as is strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are also required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Additionally, the position demands meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Prior to project management experience and familiarity with agile methodologies are strongly preferred, though not mandatory.

A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field is required.

Seeking candidates with up to five years of accounting experience specifically within manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), or agribusiness sectors.

Professional certification such as ACA, ARCA, or an equivalent credential would be highly advantageous.

Proven expertise with leading accounting platforms, including Sage, QuickBooks, Tally ERP, and SAP Business One, is essential for this role.

Demonstrates in-depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Nigerian tax laws, and recognized financial reporting frameworks.

Proficient in leveraging advanced functionalities of Microsoft Excel to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in analysis, organization, and communication, with a strong ability to convey ideas clearly and efficiently.
