Job Summary
We are in search of a seasoned Chief Engineer who possesses a robust background in classroom instruction to oversee our engineering department and provide exceptional training to students.
The successful applicant must possess a thorough grasp of marine engineering principles and demonstrate the ability to articulate intricate concepts to students in a clear and engaging manner.
Oversee and execute core duties that include managing client relationships, leading project development, and ensuring adherence to company standards. Analyze operational data to identify trends and propose strategic improvements. Coordinate cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and enhance productivity. Develop and implement policies that reinforce compliance and risk mitigation. Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to align objectives and address concerns. Deliver reports and presentations to senior leadership, summarizing performance metrics and key initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
Directly supervise and administer the engineering division, coordinating teams and overseeing all operational activities to ensure consistent project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
Design and implement engaging classroom training programs and comprehensive assessments tailored specifically for maritime students.
Develop and maintain course materials that align with STCW standards and all applicable regulatory mandates.
Ensure practical training programs adhere to established industry standards and regulations, providing oversight and guidance throughout the process.
Offer expert mentorship and direction to students and junior team members, fostering their professional growth and skill development through constructive feedback and support.
Work collaboratively with fellow instructors to uphold and enhance the uniformity and excellence of instructional delivery.
Requirements
Certified Chief Engineer with either a Class 1 or Class 2 license is required.
Requires a minimum of five years of direct classroom instruction within a maritime training curriculum.
Demonstrates extensive expertise in marine engineering principles and a thorough understanding of STCW regulations.
Seasoned professionals must demonstrate exceptional proficiency in both communication and leadership, showcasing the ability to articulate ideas clearly and inspire teams toward collective success.
Proven capability to thrive in dynamic, high-pressure settings while maintaining flexibility to meet evolving demands.
Desirable:
Proficiency in utilizing digital learning environments and web-based instructional technologies is essential. Familiarity with online education systems and electronic educational resources is required.
Demonstrated understanding of Nigerian maritime regulations and established industry practices is required.
