Responsibilities

The role entails offering strategic direction and technical guidance for all Heavy Earth Moving Machinery operations within quarry and mining environments. It guarantees peak equipment availability, fleet efficiency, maintenance optimization, cost management, adherence to safety standards, and continuous material flow to production facilities.

Devise and execute a cohesive, organization-wide Heavy Equipment Maintenance Management (HELM) strategy harmonized with mining, quarry, and production goals.

Efficiently manage and enhance the scale, structure, and allocation of the vehicle fleet to support all quarry operations.

Ensure the optimal utilization and peak performance of essential heavy equipment, such as excavators, dump trucks, haul trucks, wheel loaders, bulldozers, and graders.

Enhance fleet availability, reliability, and productivity to meet or exceed established targets across all operational sites.

Develop and implement standardized frameworks for preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Responsible for managing equipment health monitoring systems and implementing strategies to minimize the frequency of breakdowns.

Conduct comprehensive root cause analysis for significant equipment malfunctions to identify underlying issues and prevent future occurrences.

Maximize cost efficiency for maintenance by reducing expenses per operating hour and per ton transported.

Execute spare parts planning, inventory management, and vendor partnerships with precision and efficiency.

Develop and oversee strategic group contracts with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and top-tier service providers.

Develop and implement strategies to refurbish, rebuild, and optimize lifecycle costs effectively.

Work alongside mining and quarry teams to optimize overburden removal, limestone transportation, and material handling processes.

Ensure the fleet is coordinated with mine plans, blasting schedules, and production targets.

Enhance cycle times, optimize loading efficiency, and improve haul road performance to maximize operational productivity.

Spearhead the implementation and enhancement of Fleet Management Systems alongside telematics solutions to maximize operational efficiency.

Leverage GPS-based tracking, predictive maintenance analytics, and real-time fleet performance dashboards to foster widespread adoption across the organization.

Advocate for and uphold a robust safety culture throughout all HELM operations.

Maintain adherence to safety standards, operational procedures, and environmental regulations governing equipment usage.

Spearhead the development and execution of capital budgeting strategies and investment planning initiatives for newly acquired HELM (Heavy Earthmoving Machinery) assets.

Develop and implement comprehensive asset lifecycle management strategies, covering all phases from acquisition through to disposal.

Assess emerging technologies, with a particular focus on electric and low-emission equipment, to determine their feasibility and potential integration into existing operations.

Develop and oversee a top-tier HELM engineering and maintenance team spanning multiple operational sites.

Enhance technical expertise by engaging in comprehensive training initiatives and obtaining relevant certifications.

Monitor key performance indicators for the entire fleet across all locations, providing consistent updates to senior leadership regarding fleet efficiency, associated expenditures, and potential operational risks.

Requires a minimum of ten years of senior leadership experience overseeing extensive equipment fleets.
