Description

The purpose of this initiative is to create a documentary grounded in verifiable evidence, designed to elevate USDA donor recognition, advance TRACE’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) goals, and improve the dissemination of project outcomes.

Expected Tasks

The Media Consultant is responsible for performing the following duties:

Conduct pre-production activities to ensure all project requirements are clearly defined and achievable prior to commencement. Collaborate with stakeholders to finalize scripts, storyboards, and shot lists, ensuring alignment with creative vision and budget constraints. Secure necessary permits, scout and select filming locations, and coordinate logistics with production crews. Oversee casting processes, including auditions and final selections, while managing talent contracts and scheduling. Prepare detailed shooting schedules and call sheets, addressing potential risks and contingencies to maintain seamless execution.

Hold an initial meeting with the TRACE MEL and program teams to establish project objectives and align on key deliverables.

Analyze MEL data, reports, and success stories to extract key insights and trends.

Craft concept notes, design storyboards, and write scripts that align with TRACE findings and USDA visibility requirements.

Develop a comprehensive production plan encompassing all six states.

Field Production (All Six States): Responsibilities involve overseeing operations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana, ensuring seamless execution of production tasks in diverse geographic locations. This role requires travel to various sites, coordination with local teams, and adherence to regional regulations while maintaining consistent project standards. Candidates must possess prior experience in field production, strong logistical planning skills, and the ability to adapt to varying environmental and operational challenges across multiple states. Proficiency in managing remote teams, troubleshooting on-site issues, and delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines is essential.

Document project activities, farming practices, and traceability systems comprehensively to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with established protocols.

Engage in structured conversations with agricultural producers, cooperative representatives, partners, and key stakeholders to gather critical insights and information.

Collect and document MEL evidence, focusing on the results achieved and the extent of innovation uptake.

Ensure compliance with USDA and Chorus/TRACE visibility requirements across all visual materials.

Experienced professionals are sought to join our post-production team, responsible for refining and finalizing projects to ensure high-quality delivery. This role encompasses meticulous editing, sound design, color grading, and visual effects integration, requiring proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and da Vinci Resolve. Candidates must demonstrate a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with directors, editors, and other creative stakeholders. Key responsibilities include finalizing cuts, enhancing audio clarity, adjusting color balance, and implementing visual enhancements to elevate the overall production value. Craft compelling documentaries of exceptional quality by weaving together narratives with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) data to create impactful storytelling.

The role involves incorporating narration, subtitles, graphics, and branding elements into the content to enhance engagement and clarity.

Craft comprehensive documentary and concise short videos designed for reporting and advocacy purposes.

Prepare a comprehensive list of deliverables and commodities, including detailed specifications for each item.

An inception report and production plan must be prepared to outline project objectives, scope, methodology, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations. This document serves as a foundational blueprint, detailing timelines, resource allocation, risk management strategies, and key performance indicators to monitor progress effectively. Additionally, it establishes clear roles and responsibilities for team members while identifying potential challenges and mitigation plans to maintain project feasibility.

Compose documentary scripts with meticulous attention to factual accuracy, compelling narrative flow, and adherence to project objectives. Collaborate closely with directors, researchers, and producers to develop cohesive storylines grounded in thorough research and verified information. Ensure scripts align with ethical standards, editorial guidelines, and the creative vision of the production team. Revise drafts based on feedback to enhance clarity, engagement, and impact while maintaining journalistic integrity. Meet deadlines consistently to support seamless production timelines.

We are seeking a skilled documentary filmmaker to craft a compelling final documentary, ranging in duration from 10 to 20 minutes. The project demands a keen eye for storytelling, meticulous research, and expert editing to ensure a polished and engaging narrative. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in cinematography, interview techniques, and post-production processes, with a strong portfolio showcasing prior documentary work. Responsibilities include conceptualizing the documentary’s structure, conducting interviews, capturing high-quality footage, and editing the final cut to meet professional standards. Experience with scripting, sound design, and collaboration with production teams is essential.

As a minimum requirement, candidates must produce at least three short clips.

We maintain an organized repository of unprocessed video recordings for retrieval and review.

MEL and Donor Visibility Integration will involve seamless coordination to ensure comprehensive tracking and reporting of program outcomes while enhancing transparency for donors regarding impact and resource allocation. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to align monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks with donor visibility strategies, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and dissemination. Responsibilities include developing and implementing MEL systems, maintaining donor reporting frameworks, and facilitating stakeholder engagement to foster trust and accountability in program performance. Proficiency in data management tools, donor communication protocols, and impact assessment methodologies is essential for success in this position.
