"Empowering communities to overcome poverty with proven solutions."
Lutheran World Relief was established by Lutherans in the United States following World War II, rooted in Lutheran theology and drawing from decades of expertise. The organization addresses global poverty by empowering individuals to overcome the challenges threatening their livelihoods and well-being.
We collaborate with communities based on need, without discrimination by race, religion, or nationality, and we do not engage in evangelism.
Our work includes emergency response and long-term support to help families rebuild their lives. We forge partnerships with communities to strengthen rural economies and foster sustainable growth. By addressing the root causes of poverty, we enable families and communities to prosper.
Our mission is to equip people with the tools for self-sufficiency and to develop community-led solutions that endure beyond the lifespan of our projects.
