The Company is currently recruiting a seasoned Senior Credit Analyst to join its specialized analytical team. The team is responsible for evaluating financial institutions—both bank and non-bank—across the African continent.

Accurate ratings are essential to our operations, requiring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to established guidelines. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in evaluating various metrics with precision and consistency. Responsibilities include reviewing data, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring all ratings align with organizational standards. Strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining high accuracy are critical to success in this role.
Conduct comprehensive fundamental credit assessments on a portfolio comprising Nigerian financial institutions, insurance companies, and corporate entities, ensuring rigorous evaluation of creditworthiness. Prepare and deliver detailed analytical presentations to relevant committees, facilitating informed decision-making processes.
Acquire a comprehensive knowledge of applicable methodologies and demonstrate proficiency in their application.
Monitor progress and verify that ratings remain precise and predictive.
Facilitates clear and professional interactions between financial markets and issuers, ensuring accurate and timely exchange of critical information to support strategic decision-making.
Develop and nurture strong, long-lasting partnerships with fixed-income investors, financial media outlets, and senior executives within financial institutions.
Operate autonomously while collaborating with the analytical team to strengthen the Company’s Banking, Corporate, and Insurance franchise, with a primary focus on cultivating and expanding relationships with key external stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Additionally, three or more years of experience in software development, with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking are crucial. Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git is preferred. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust academic foundation, at minimum equivalent to a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field.
A professional qualification from ACA or ARCA would be particularly advantageous.
Proficient oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
Qualities and Experience:
Proven expertise in credit and risk assessment, characterized by robust financial analysis capabilities, typically acquired within a financial institution, regulatory body, or public accounting firm, is essential.
Proficient knowledge of Nigerian corporate landscapes, including their regulatory frameworks and the pivotal challenges impacting these sectors, along with insight into the dominant market participants and major industry catalysts.
Clear and effective communication skills are required, demonstrated through the ability to convey information clearly and concisely, both in written and spoken formats, with prior experience in public speaking.
Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative analysis along with a solid track record of analytical problem-solving is essential.
Highly organized and productive, with a strong capacity for multitasking and consistently meeting stringent deadlines.
