Job Summary
Our client, experiencing heightened operational demands, requires an Internal Control/Compliance Officer who is proactive and possesses strong communication skills, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
The successful applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Banking, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline, along with either the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification, membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN), or accreditation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA).
Candidates possessing prior experience in comparable roles within a Microfinance Bank, along with a strong understanding of MCB Software, CBN regulations, and AML laws, will be at an advantage.
This role is instrumental in evaluating policies and establishing robust internal controls within the Bank.
This position encompasses a range of essential responsibilities and primary functions. The role involves overseeing and executing key operational tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategic goals. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for managing critical projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining high standards of performance in all assigned duties.
Conduct a daily reconciliation of bank transactions against the system balance to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Conduct thorough audits based on the established checklist and supervisor’s guidance to ensure the bank achieves optimal outcomes.
To develop and implement the internal controls function, this role involves preparing an audit manual, formulating an audit plan, managing scheduling and task assignments, and accurately estimating resource requirements.
Perform comprehensive risk evaluations for departments and functional areas while adhering to established timelines.
Perform comprehensive audit testing to evaluate potential risk areas, meticulously identifying any issues that require reporting.
You may be tasked with performing reviews or other assignments as directed by management.
Actively contributes to the formulation and refinement of Internal Control policies, ensuring their alignment with the Bank’s evolving operational needs and regulatory requirements.
Develop and execute suitable operating procedures to maintain adherence to the Bank’s established policies.
The incumbent is responsible for compiling and submitting regular reports to the Head of Internal Control to enhance operational performance.
Monitor and offer guidance to mitigate risks associated with inadequate internal controls, ensuring proactive measures are taken to safeguard organizational integrity and operational effectiveness.
Analyze financial and administrative performance to pinpoint strengths and areas needing improvement, then establish and implement optimal policies and procedures.
May provide training to other team members on Internal Controls procedures.
Compile and file monthly returns, ensuring they are submitted to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Compile and organize all required financial records and documentation in preparation for audits conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
