Location: UGAP, situated in Cross River State, serves as the designated workplace for this position.

Job Summary:

The ART nurse plays a pivotal role in facilitating the seamless execution of ART service delivery within the healthcare facility. In this capacity, the nurse provides direct support to both the health facility and community-based HIV prevention initiatives, while simultaneously enhancing referral and linkage systems.

Plays a pivotal role in driving organizational success through the fulfillment of core duties and responsibilities, including strategic planning, operational oversight, and performance optimization to ensure alignment with business objectives and industry standards.

In partnership with the facility medical officer, clinicians, pharmacists, and laboratory staff, as well as Teas and mentor mothers, the role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based antiretroviral therapy (ART), prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), prevention, and tuberculosis services.

Offer comprehensive HIV testing services and counseling to pregnant and breastfeeding women, ensuring informed decision-making and support throughout their healthcare journey.

Implement comprehensive early infant diagnostic protocols and ensure consistent follow-up care for infants exposed to HIV.

Facilitate the continued engagement of mothers and their infants within the healthcare framework to ensure consistent access to necessary services and support.

Provide guidance and encouragement to fellow healthcare professionals to foster their professional development and well-being.

Engage in various training sessions, meetings, and opportunities for professional growth to enhance skills and knowledge.

Develop and enhance the Practice-Informed Treatment and Care (PITCH) model within the designated health facilities.

Delivers expert nursing care by performing specialized procedures, including dressing changes.

Administers medications in accordance with prescribed orders, ensuring full compliance with the established scope of practice for the licensed professional.

Provide counseling services to ensure adherence and support treatment literacy.

Participates actively in team meetings and conferences at the discretion of management.

May serve in a team lead capacity within the facility, providing support in the delivery and oversight of patient care services.

Records observations and administers medications in adherence with established guidelines and protocols.

Delivers comprehensive education to patients and their families regarding healthcare needs and treatment plans.

Maintain compliance with infection prevention and control protocols and guidelines.

She is required to demonstrate strong teamwork and leadership capabilities.

Demonstrates sound judgment and makes well-informed decisions through careful analysis and critical thinking.

Maintains strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols at all times.

Notifies the RN and/or medical provider promptly of any substantial alterations observed in the patient’s physical condition.

Develop and maintain strong connections and seamless referrals for patients, both within the facility and across external healthcare providers.

Collaborate with the prevention coordinator to oversee community program staff and verify the attainment of objectives, while also ensuring the prompt completion and distribution of reports.

Accurate and prompt documentation of all delivered services is essential. EMR’s, registers, and required reporting tools must be completed without delay.

Conduct operational research initiatives to address key inquiries pertaining to AHF’s treatment and prevention programs.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements include a relevant degree and prior work experience in a comparable field. Candidates should possess the necessary educational background along with hands-on experience to fulfill the role effectively. Proficiency in industry-specific tools and methodologies is expected, alongside a track record of achieving measurable outcomes in previous positions.

A degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university is required.

A Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife holding additional certifications and possessing a minimum of five years of professional experience is required.

Minimum of three years of professional experience in managing HIV-related programs is required.

Proficiency in the Minimum Prevention Package for Nigeria is a critical requirement.

Required are strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently while managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Demonstrates strong proficiency in crafting clear, concise reports and conveying information with precision and professionalism.

Professional Rewriting:
Upholding the highest ethical standards and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the personal health information of clients affected by HIV/AIDS are essential responsibilities of this position.

Strong command of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
