The Assistant Head of Operations will oversee branch operational functions to guarantee seamless service delivery, proficient cash management, and outstanding customer service. This position encompasses ATM monitoring, leadership of frontline operations staff, and collaboration with the Head of Operations to advance operational excellence.

Oversees and coordinates the essential tasks and obligations associated with the position, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational standards. Facilitates the execution of key duties while monitoring progress and outcomes to maintain efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and address operational challenges. Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout all activities. Provides guidance and support to team members to enhance performance and achieve departmental objectives. Analyzes data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategic solutions. Maintains accurate records, documentation, and reporting facilitating transparency and accountability.

Guarantee full compliance with all service standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in alignment with the Bank’s customer segmentation framework while delivering prioritized and expedited service to High-Value clients.

Assist with the seamless migration of customers to alternative service channels while ensuring these platforms—including e-branches and self-service options—are fully optimized and operational. Collaborate closely with relevant teams to minimize service disruptions and maintain high channel performance throughout the transition.

Ensure that branch resources are allocated and prioritized effectively in accordance with the Bank’s established service delivery standards and customer segmentation framework.

Strengthen current and new client connections while driving sales of the Bank’s Personal and Business Banking offerings by identifying and capitalizing on cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

Proactively oversee transactional behavior and ensure meticulous organization of customer records through precise segmentation while enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy for inactive or dormant accounts, as well as timely account closures.

Diligently gather customer insights to uncover potential enhancements and areas where service improvements can be implemented.

Ensure all deposit and withdrawal documents are completed and verified for accuracy.

Verify the accuracy and reliability of every instrument employed in transactional processes.

Verify the daily balance on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) statement of accounts.

Authorize and sanction transactions in accordance with the Bank’s established approval thresholds.

Monitor cash register balances and distribute funds as necessary, while ensuring that the amount of cash kept on hand adheres to the company’s approved insurance policy limits.

Oversee daily cash levels within the bulk room and vault while verifying that branch cash requirements are consistently satisfied.

Monitor inter-branch cash flows and verify compliance with all established cash handling control procedures to ensure accuracy and security throughout each transaction.

Oversee the operational reliability of the branch’s ATM network and ensure accurate financial reconciliation processes are maintained.

Maintain the branch’s cash limit and promptly transfer any surplus cash from the vault in coordination with bullion services.

Swiftly resolve service issues on the same day and escalate them when necessary.

Ensures accurate end-of-day account balancing and reconciliation while promptly resolving any discrepancies on the same day.

Oversee the daily operations of tellers while delivering comprehensive on-the-job training to ensure proficiency and adherence to standards.

Promptly reconcile general ledgers and promptly address and resolve any exceptions that arise.

Submit branch returns to Head Office promptly and consistently.

Support the development of essential management information reports by contributing to their preparation and ensuring accuracy.

Ensure strict adherence to established internal policies and procedures, maintaining meticulous compliance across all operational activities.

Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and statutory mandates to maintain organizational compliance.

Serve as the alternate representative and assume the Branch Manager’s responsibilities during their absence.
