Responsibilities include the assembly, precise alignment, and leveling of substantial machinery and equipment, as well as the secure anchoring of such units, which may encompass the erection of cranes, mobile booms, or temporary installations such as scaffolding.
Rigging, programming, monitoring, repairing, and operating lighting systems are essential to elevate events and performances, encompassing tasks such as equipment loading, cable organization, light hanging (which may require climbing), and fixture focusing.
The role involves setting up and managing the lighting system for productions, executing lighting effects according to the Lighting Designer’s specifications, and operating either manual or computer-based systems throughout performances.
Evaluating wiring configurations and equipment installations to mitigate hazards such as fire or electrical shock while ensuring all lighting apparatus remains operational and secure.
After each performance, equipment must be disassembled and securely stored, while post-production responsibilities include the setup of temporary electrical power systems.
After completing work, dismantle and store rigging equipment, immediately report any safety concerns, and strictly follow all occupational health and safety protocols.
