The Role

The Junior Legal Assistant will deliver crucial administrative, operational, and research assistance to the legal department. In this position, you will contribute significantly to maintaining the organization of our legal operations, upholding precise record-keeping standards, and supporting regulatory compliance efforts, including document drafting.

Oversee and drive a wide range of essential duties, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining high standards of performance. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and foster innovation. Lead strategic initiatives, monitor progress, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize operational efficiency and mitigate risks. Serve as a key liaison between departments, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate seamless communication and alignment. Manage resources, budgets, and timelines with precision to deliver measurable results and continuous improvement.

Prepare, format, and review essential legal documents, contracts, internal memos, and correspondence with precision. Maintain accurate and current organization of all templates and legal agreements to uphold compliance and efficiency.

Legal Research: Perform initial investigations into pertinent Nigerian labor laws, regulatory frameworks, corporate compliance obligations, and specialized legal inquiries as assigned by senior counsel.

Provide regulatory compliance support by monitoring critical compliance deadlines, compiling accurate statutory filings, and ensuring all documentation is meticulously maintained for submission to relevant regulatory authorities such as the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIES).

Organizing and maintaining physical and digital legal files with precision is essential, along with efficiently managing the legal department’s calendar, meticulously tracking contract renewal dates, and coordinating meetings to ensure seamless operations.

Serving as a professional intermediary, you will facilitate seamless communication between internal departments and external stakeholders on matters of legal administration, consistently upholding a formal and diplomatic demeanor.

The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the industry. Proficiency in key software tools and platforms is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Additionally, the role demands meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards is also a prerequisite for consideration.

A recognized university must be the source of your LL.B degree. Although completing the Nigerian Law School and obtaining the B.L. credential is beneficial, applications from enthusiastic fresh graduates or candidates awaiting NYC deployment are also encouraged.

We offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experience and expertise. The salary range for this position spans from $75,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive performance bonuses, comprehensive health benefits, and retirement savings contributions. A competitive monthly salary ranging from ₦200,000 to ₦250,000 is offered.
