The Drill Locator (Skilled) – HDD Operations is a full-time, on-site position located in Lagos. This role entails the operation and management of horizontal directional drilling machinery used in construction and maintenance projects. Responsibilities include planning, monitoring, and directing drill trajectories during Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations to facilitate precise underground utility installations while safeguarding existing infrastructure from potential damage.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing the core functions of the role, including the execution of primary tasks essential to achieving organizational objectives. Provide leadership in coordinating team activities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals while maintaining high standards of performance. Facilitate collaboration across departments to streamline processes and enhance productivity. Monitor progress through regular assessments, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures as needed. Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. Uphold compliance with company policies and industry regulations to mitigate risks and foster a secure work environment.

Construct HDD bore routes by analyzing project drawings and utility maps to ensure precise planning and preparation.

Establish and fine-tune precision equipment designed for locating and tracking HDDs, ensuring optimal functionality and accuracy through proper calibration.

Monitor the drill head’s position continuously and deliver immediate operational guidance to drill operators.

Locate and navigate around underground utilities and third-party infrastructure to prevent potential disruptions or hazards.

Analyze drilling issues and propose appropriate solutions to resolve them.

Responsibilities include maintaining precise drilling records, compiling comprehensive reports, and ensuring thorough quality assurance documentation.
