A dynamic and proficient Fiber Installation Support Technician is sought to enhance our team.
The successful candidate will support our Fiber teams in the implementation of fiber optic cable installations, maintaining both efficiency and exceptional workmanship.
This position entails providing operational assistance to field teams, executing diverse responsibilities, and partnering with colleagues to expedite project schedules and reduce system interruptions. The preferred applicant must be accessible and prepared to work on weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards, managing and mentoring a team to achieve performance targets, collaborating with cross-functional departments to align on strategic initiatives, developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance productivity and compliance, analyzing performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and fostering a positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and retention. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate records, reporting progress to senior leadership, and staying current with industry best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Assist with the deployment of fiber optic cables by routing them through ducts, conduits, and other designated pathways.
Laying and overseeing High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ducts ensures the protection and systematic organization of fiber optic cables.
Safely dismantle and eliminate interlocks and other obstructions to ensure seamless cable installation.
Execute thrust boring operations to establish conduits for fiber optic cable installations beneath roadways, walkways, or other impediments.
Field Support involves offering comprehensive assistance to the Fiber team throughout installations, troubleshooting sessions, and maintenance operations.
Ensuring safety compliance involves strictly following established safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Collaborate seamlessly with technicians, engineers, and project managers to deliver projects punctually and in strict adherence to specifications.
Maintain precise documentation of all tasks completed, encompassing cable routes, duct layouts, and any challenges faced during the process.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrates proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. Minimum of three years of experience in software development or a comparable role. Exhibits strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills. Capable of collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams. Familiarity with databases, APIs, and cloud services is advantageous. Must possess excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly. Contributes to code reviews and adheres to best practices in software development.
A diploma or degree in a relevant field—such as telecommunications, electrical engineering, or a related discipline—is required.
Professional candidates should possess relevant experience in fiber optic cable installation, telecommunications, or an equivalent industry.
Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required. Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana or Trello is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential, as is the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Attention to detail and organizational skills are crucial for maintaining accuracy and productivity. Experience with data analysis or reporting tools is beneficial but not mandatory.
Proficiency in fiber optic cabling systems and associated installation methodologies is required.
Proficient in adapting to diverse work settings, ranging from open-air conditions to enclosed environments.
Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues efficiently with a methodical approach.
Demonstrates exceptional aptitude for clear and effective communication, along with a strong capacity for collaborative teamwork.
The role demands excellent physical fitness, the capacity to lift substantial weights, perform duties at elevated heights, and adaptability to diverse weather conditions.
Certifications required include professional credentials such as PMP, CISSP, or Six Sigma, along with industry-specific licenses pertinent to the role. Additional certifications in project management, IT governance, or cybersecurity enhance eligibility.
