The Head of Business Development plays a pivotal role in advancing the bank’s primary business objectives, including the acquisition of low-cost deposits, loan origination, the promotion of POS and digital banking solutions, and the cultivation of a high-performing team. This position is critical to meeting the bank’s performance benchmarks while extending its customer base and strengthening market presence.

Oversee a comprehensive range of operational duties, ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks to uphold organizational efficiency and productivity. Serve as a pivotal point of contact for cross-functional teams, facilitating clear communication and collaboration to align project objectives with overarching business goals. Develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing workflows, reducing inefficiencies, and enhancing overall performance. Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous growth. Maintain rigorous adherence to compliance standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies to mitigate risks and ensure operational integrity. Lead and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional development. Prepare detailed reports and presentations to convey insights, findings, and recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision-making.

Drive the bank’s business development initiatives, formulating and implementing a strategic plan to attain ambitious growth objectives for deposits, loans, and digital banking offerings.

Lead new customer acquisition initiatives by designing and executing targeted sales and marketing campaigns, utilizing the bank’s extensive POS network and digital platforms to maximize reach and engagement.

Oversee a high-performing team comprising relationship managers, sales executives, and business development officers to ensure exceptional customer service delivery and the achievement of sales targets, if not surpassing them.

Work collaboratively with department heads across Operations, IT, and Risk to ensure the bank’s products and services are delivered seamlessly.

Utilize comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to uncover emerging opportunities and pioneer inventive strategies that address evolving customer demands.

Track and analyze essential performance metrics tied to deposit collection, loan origination, digital platform utilization, and team efficiency, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of progress and outcomes.

Deliver guidance and facilitate professional growth for the business development team, cultivating an environment of excellence and high performance.

We seek a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, economics, or business administration, along with at least three years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and strong analytical abilities are essential requirements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required; possession of an MBA is advantageous.

With a minimum of eight to ten years of demonstrated expertise in business development, sales, or relationship management within the banking and financial services sector, candidates should bring a proven track record of success in these domains.

To qualify for this role, candidates must hold a Microfinance Certified Practitioner credential.

Demonstrated success in elevating revenue streams, consistently surpassing ambitious performance benchmarks, and assembling and leading high-caliber teams.

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of microfinance operations, strategies for mobilizing deposits, and digital banking solutions.

Demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities to facilitate productive interactions with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

Analytical mindset is essential, enabling the ability to interpret data, recognize trends, and make informed decisions based on data.

Proficient knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards specific to the banking industry.
