The Role
As the Accountant, your role involves overseeing the hotel’s day-to-day financial activities while ensuring adherence to international hospitality accounting standards and Nigerian tax regulations. In collaboration with department heads and senior leadership, you will work to enhance profitability while upholding stringent financial precision.
Oversee and execute a range of critical duties to ensure operational excellence and team productivity, including managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining adherence to company policies and industry standards. Duties also involve analyzing performance metrics to identify trends, optimizing workflows for efficiency, and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Additionally, the role requires fostering a positive work environment, mentoring team members to enhance their professional growth, and ensuring seamless communication across departments.
Accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and profit-and-loss reports is required.
Monitor expenditures to maintain control of the budget, conduct variance analyses, and collaborate with the Food & Beverage and Operations teams to oversee inventory management and minimize waste.
Conducting a thorough Revenue Audit involves supervising the nightly audit process to confirm that all room, banquet, and ancillary revenues are precisely reconciled and documented.
Oversee the punctual submission and payment of all statutory deductions, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and CIT, ensuring strict adherence to the requirements set forth by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIES).
Cash Flow Management: Responsible for directing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit management, and preparing daily cash flow forecasts.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal control policies to ensure the protection of hotel assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.
What We Are Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
ACA, ARCA, or CPA certification is an essential requirement for this role.
A minimum of five to seven years of progressive accounting experience within the hospitality sector is required.
A strong skill set in hospitality ERP systems, QuickBooks, and advanced MS Excel is required.
