The Role
We seek an experienced Sales Manager to develop and lead our field agent network, extending its reach across Lagos and surrounding regions.
This newly created position requires an individual skilled in engaging with traders, market vendors, and small store owners—particularly those unfamiliar with or hesitant about digital procurement tools—to drive adoption and build trust in the platform.
You will lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of a team of field sales agents tasked with presenting our client’s solution to physical market traders, ensuring they are effectively managed throughout the process.
You will establish performance goals, mentor team members, monitor outcomes, and be accountable for the conversion metrics produced by your team.
This role is not confined to an office environment; you will actively engage in fieldwork and market interactions.
You must possess an in-depth understanding of market dynamics, maintain strong relationships with our agents, and have a keen awareness of our customers’ needs.
What You Will Do
Develop and oversee the expansion of the Field Agent Network, ensuring robust recruitment, training, and operational alignment to drive field performance and strategic growth.
Recruit, onboard, and lead a team of field sales representatives who operate within designated target markets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and performance standards.
Expertly design comprehensive agent onboarding initiatives that encompass in-depth product education, standardized sales methodologies, strategies for addressing client concerns, and thorough customer training modules.
Establish measurable individual and team objectives aligned with registrations, activations, and transaction volume to drive performance and accountability.
Regularly conduct field accompaniments, provide coaching sessions, and perform comprehensive performance reviews to ensure consistent development and effective monitoring of team members’ capabilities.
Execute strategies to expand market presence and capture a larger share of the target audience, ensuring sustained growth and competitive advantage through innovative and data-driven approaches.
Identify and rank key target markets and trade clusters where Proc360’s customer base is most concentrated.
Develop strategic partnerships with industry associations, labor union representatives, and influential traders to foster trust and drive market acceptance.
Collaborate closely with the product team to integrate real-time customer feedback into the platform’s development lifecycle.
Provide exemplary first-contact customer service while maintaining unwavering brand representation through agent interactions.
Compile and present performance metrics and generate reports to track progress against key performance indicators, ensuring data accuracy and providing actionable insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
Monitor agent performance utilizing a sales portal currently in development, as well as field reports, to track progress and ensure accountability.
Monitor and analyze conversion rates, indicators of churn, and customer feedback across various market segments.
Prepare and present weekly and monthly performance reports to senior leadership on a consistent basis.
Proactively detect operational or performance deficiencies at an early stage and design and execute structured improvement initiatives to address underlying issues.
Develop and implement effective sales strategies and conduct comprehensive market research to identify new opportunities, optimize existing channels, and drive revenue growth through data-driven decision-making and competitive analysis.
Analyze market trends, monitor competitor actions, and evaluate customer behavior within designated trade zones.
Recommend pricing frameworks, commission structures, and incentive plans tailored to the agent network to drive performance and engagement.
Collaborate on creating sales materials, training content, and scripts specifically designed for offline market audiences.
What We Are Looking For
Background:
With a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in field sales, trade marketing, or distribution—preferably within the FMCG, telecoms, or financial services sectors targeting informal or mass market segments—successful candidates will demonstrate a proven track record in driving revenue growth and market penetration in dynamic commercial environments.
Delivers a history of success in overseeing and expanding a field-based sales force or geographic territory, demonstrating measurable growth and leadership in sales team development.
Professionals with a proven track record of conducting sales activities within or across physical marketplaces, motor parks, trade hubs, or open-air market settings in Nigeria are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in navigating the import trade ecosystem—particularly those involving procurement from suppliers in China or other global markets—is highly beneficial.
Proficient in a variety of technical and soft skills, with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and adaptability in dynamic environments. Demonstrates excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Nice to Have:
Experience in collaborating with Chinese suppliers, freight forwarders, or import traders is required.
Individuals with prior experience in fintech, procurement software solutions, or trade finance products will be prioritized.
Professionals with established networks in key Lagos markets, including Alba, Trade Fair, Halogen, and Mile 12, are preferred.
