Overview
The Maintenance Assistant contributes to the proper maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of facilities at all sites by performing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
This position encompasses a broad range of maintenance duties, including the repair and servicing of plumbing, electrical, generator, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities also involve addressing repair requests promptly, upholding safety standards, procuring necessary spare parts, and collaborating with technical teams to reduce downtime and sustain operational efficiency. Additionally, the role includes maintaining kitchen equipment, such as Bain Marie units, to ensure optimal functionality.
Oversee and execute core duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to ensure organizational objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align business processes, optimize workflows, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics to enhance productivity, quality, and compliance with industry standards. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress, identify areas for enhancement, and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead and mentor teams to foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth while maintaining high standards of excellence.
Perform systematic inspections and implement preventive maintenance measures throughout all restaurant facilities—dining spaces, kitchen facilities, restrooms, storage rooms, and offices—to uphold operational efficiency.
Execute practical repairs encompassing plumbing, electrical systems, generators, carpentry, and general mechanical tasks specifically within the restaurant setting.
Address any issues without delay, including leaks, lighting malfunctions, power outages, damaged furniture, and malfunctioning kitchen appliances.
Service and maintain essential kitchen equipment—such as Bain Marie units and other commercial kitchen systems—to guarantee uninterrupted operation and peak performance.
Provide assistance with the installation, fine-tuning, and repositioning of equipment, furniture, and fixtures during initial setup, renovation projects, or special events.
Ensure all maintenance tasks adhere to stringent food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety protocols.
Address maintenance requests promptly to reduce any disruptions to operations and ensure seamless workflow continuity.
Oversee the maintenance of tools, spare parts, and consumables to maintain organized storage and ensure their ready availability.
Facilitate the acquisition of mechanical and electrical components while coordinating with suppliers and vendors to address maintenance requirements.
Collaborate closely with external technicians to ensure seamless execution of major repairs, servicing, and inspections.
Document all maintenance actions, repairs performed, and equipment servicing events with meticulous accuracy.
Guarantee the secure operation and utilization of tools, ladders, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment in strict accordance with established safety guidelines and protocols.
Execute all additional maintenance tasks as required to uphold optimal restaurant functionality and operational efficiency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on backend systems or distributed computing.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Go is essential, alongside expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles for scalable architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Applicants must hold either an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Facility Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Professional certification in facility or safety management would be beneficial.
Requires a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience in facility operations or maintenance-related positions.
Proficiency in restaurant or hospitality settings is beneficial.
Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, plumbing infrastructure, and general maintenance practices is required.
