This position is a full-time, on-site role for a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer stationed in Ibadan South East. The HSE Officer will be responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across offices, depots, and operational sites. Key duties include performing routine risk assessments, conducting safety inspections and audits, and ensuring adherence to applicable HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, and organizational benchmarks. Additionally, the role entails coordinating safety training sessions and emergency drills, documenting incidents and corrective measures with precision, and fostering a robust safety culture among employees and site visitors. The HSE Officer will partner with leadership to revise and maintain HSE documentation, analyze accidents or near-miss events, and propose proactive risk mitigation strategies to safeguard personnel, infrastructure, and the environment.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is required. Proficiency in industry-standard tools and software is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are expected. At least three years of relevant experience is preferred. Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards is crucial. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is important. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are demanded.

Demonstrated proficiency in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management, with a strong background in conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and establishing effective HSE protocols.

Proficiency in Nigerian occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices is required.

Proven expertise in preparing detailed reports, maintaining thorough documentation, and ensuring meticulous record-keeping to support audits, inspections, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Proven ability to communicate effectively, deliver training, and conduct presentations to engage staff at all levels on HSE topics.

Demonstrated proficiency in keen observation, analytical reasoning, and effective problem-solving, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and a self-driven, proactive mindset.

Proficient in executing on-site operations, performing detailed field assessments, and partnering effectively with diverse cross-functional teams within dynamic, high-pressure settings.

Relevant HSE certifications, such as BOSH or JOSH, along with a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, are strongly preferred.

Proficiency in publishing, manufacturing, or logistics environments is beneficial, as is a working knowledge of emergency response planning and first aid procedures.
