The NYC Survey Data Analysis Intern will undertake a range of responsibilities, including conducting in-depth data analysis, processing survey results, and generating actionable insights to support decision-making processes. This role requires a strong foundation in statistical methods, proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, R, or Python, and exceptional attention to detail. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret findings, prepare comprehensive reports, and contribute to the development of data-driven strategies. Additionally, the position demands effective communication skills to present complex information clearly and the ability to work independently while meeting project deadlines.
Support the execution of research initiatives, including baseline studies, impact assessments, and mid-term evaluations.
Collaborate in the development of data collection instruments and methodologies for data analysis, ensuring alignment with project objectives and research requirements.
Support data collection, entry, validation, and cleaning activities.
Provide support in ensuring that all data quality protocols are strictly followed during data collection and cleaning.
Responsibilities include collecting and organizing data, conducting preliminary analysis, creating visual representations of data, preparing reports, and sharing findings with stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with the RATS team to compile reports, gather and analyze data, and share key success stories and valuable lessons learned.
Facilitate the organization and coordination of research activities in alignment with established project implementation schedules.
Perform all additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor as needed.
Requirements
A Bachelor of Science degree in Demography, Economics, Statistics, Sociology, Public Health, or other closely related quantitative disciplines is required.
Proficiency in utilizing State or SPSS for survey data analysis is a mandatory prerequisite.
Required are robust quantitative capabilities alongside proficiency in data visualization and statistical software applications, including but not limited to Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
Candidates with a proven track record in research execution, survey data analysis, and program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) will be prioritized.
Proficiency in handling extensive secondary datasets, including MICS, DHS, and NARKS, is highly beneficial.
Skilled in articulating ideas clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in writing, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to excellence and precision.
Candidates must exhibit cultural awareness and a proven capacity to collaborate effectively within diverse team settings.
Must demonstrate the capacity to operate autonomously, identify solutions efficiently, and seek assistance proactively as situations arise.
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Word and PowerPoint.
