Job Summary

The Managing Director will spearhead strategic leadership for the cooperative, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan portfolios. Additionally, they will lead and develop staff, reinforce financial governance, and uphold rigorous financial controls to guarantee both profitability and long-term sustainability.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive array of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and industry standards while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders to align goals, streamline processes, and enhance overall efficiency. Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions to optimize productivity and achieve key objectives. Act as a liaison between senior management and operational teams to facilitate transparent communication, resolve escalated issues, and support informed decision-making. Maintain a proactive approach to risk management, compliance, and regulatory adherence to mitigate potential challenges and safeguard organizational integrity.

Oversee the daily functions of the cooperative while providing updates to the Board and Executive Committee.

Accelerate the expansion of our membership base, enhance savings initiatives, and foster robust business development endeavors.

Responsible for the management and oversight of loan marketing initiatives, property appraisals, fund disbursement processes, ongoing loan monitoring, and the recovery of delinquent accounts.

Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting processes, cash management activities, and internal control systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Oversee staff performance, foster effective teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure high standards in service delivery.

Maintain accurate documentation, ensure strict adherence to compliance standards, manage risks effectively, and prepare thoroughly for audits.

Foster meaningful connections with community members, local groups, businesses, and institutions across Cuba and its neighboring regions.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in software development, preferably in a leadership or senior role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, along with experience with databases, APIs, and cloud services. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time are also necessary. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control systems, and DevOps practices is highly desirable.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or any other relevant commercial or social science discipline is required.

A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.

A proven track record in marketing, credit administration, accounting, and loan management, coupled with demonstrated leadership in guiding teams.

Required Skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with a strong grasp of data analysis and presentation techniques. Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication abilities to articulate complex information clearly and effectively. Attention to detail is essential for ensuring accuracy in reports and documentation. Familiarity with project management software, such as Asana or Trello, is advantageous. Additionally, the ability to work collaboratively in team settings while managing multiple priorities is critical.
