Our client, a well-established hotel in the Amino Odin districts of Lagos and Abuja, is seeking the expertise of an accomplished hotel accountant and Head of Internal Audit. This individual will assume responsibility for overseeing financial operations and ensuring robust internal controls within the organization.
The monthly management accounts are prepared, along with the daily revenue ledgers, either independently or through oversight of the process.
Compiling and maintaining a comprehensive schedule of all statutory obligations, followed by ensuring their timely remittance.
Collaborate with management and the internal audit team to develop internal control procedures. Evaluate existing controls and propose adjustments to enhance effectiveness, then submit these recommendations to management for consideration.
Ensures strict adherence to budgetary constraints by verifying that all expenses remain within established limits, while also providing the necessary initial approval to facilitate timely processing.
A strong understanding of inventory management is essential, and the role involves collaborating with colleagues to oversee monthly stocktaking and reconciliation processes while ensuring strict adherence to established inventory procedures.
Compiles, or collaborates with other account officers to prepare, the monthly bank reconciliation statement.
Liaise with the procurement department and store personnel to prepare payment schedules for all creditors, while also coordinating with the front desk manager to calculate receivables.
An ideal candidate should hold at minimum an HND or B.Sc. in Accounting, complemented by either ICAN, AAT certification, or equivalent credentials, along with substantial years of relevant professional experience. Progression to an advanced stage in ICAN will be viewed favorably. Applicants with ICAN AAT2 or Foundation qualifications, coupled with applicable years of experience, are also encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as familiarity with at least one accounting software, is required.
A position is currently available exclusively for residents of Lagos, specifically those living in or near the Amino Odin area.
