As the AML/CFT/CPF Compliance Associate at Kora, your primary responsibility will involve upholding strict adherence to anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and counter-proliferation financing regulations and standards across all African markets where we operate.

Ensure full adherence to all regulatory obligations pertinent to anti-money laundering (AML), combating the financing of terrorism (CFT), and proliferation financing (PFW).
You will undertake a variety of key responsibilities, including but not limited to the following tasks:
Offer guidance and assistance on compliance matters, including across all business units, new products, new jurisdictions, and emerging regulatory initiatives.
Provide support as needed in the creation, revision, and maintenance of procedures, processes, policies, and associated training materials, along with the facilitation of customized training sessions designed to meet the specific requirements of the operations and finance departments.
Evaluate and enhance Kora’s existing AML/CFT/CPF operations, standards, and control frameworks through rigorous review, testing, and strategic recommendation of updates.
Perform Know Your Customer (KYC) verification for prospective merchants and execute ongoing due diligence assessments for existing merchant accounts.
Provide support in executing compliance initiatives and assess suitable corrective action strategies, including, when required, deadlines and assigned duties.
Draft, implement, and oversee comprehensive policies, procedures, and frameworks to govern the organization’s enterprise-wide Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) program.
Perform transaction monitoring activities and prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR’s) as required.
Ensure the organization adheres to all current and emerging international and national legal requirements and regulatory standards.
Perform regular assessments of compliance programs and implement necessary modifications and enhancements to ensure their effectiveness.
Manage all regulatory and law enforcement authority (LEA) inquiries and requests from initiation to completion, ensuring seamless end-to-end process execution.
To uphold Kora’s annual training objectives, assume full ownership of the Compliance training and awareness initiatives.
Here’s what are we looking for:
With a minimum of two years of experience as a Compliance Officer or in an equivalent capacity within a B2B setting, financial technology services, or the banking sector—specifically within operations spanning multiple African markets.
Certified candidates must hold credentials such as DCP, CAMS, or CFCs.
Seasoned professional with a strong background in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorism Financing (CFT), and Combating Proliferation Financing (CPF) compliance.
Proficiency in transaction monitoring as well as KYC (Know Your Customer) and CDD (Customer Due Diligence) processes is required.
Demonstrates the ability to learn efficiently and solve problems with speed and adaptability.
Comprehending the intricate dynamics of regulatory frameworks within the global financial landscape is essential.
Proven track record of success in fast-paced, high-growth environments, preferably within startups or rapidly scaling organizations.
