Job Summary
A distinguished Microfinance Bank headquartered in Elite State is in search of a seasoned, analytical, and results-driven professional to fill the role of Head, Audit and Risk Management (HARM).
The ideal candidate will deliver independent, unbiased assurance and advisory services aimed at enhancing the bank’s operational efficiency and effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Board Audit & Risk Management Committee for functional oversight and to the Managing Director/CEO for administrative matters, the Head of Audit, Risk, and Compliance (HARD) will lead the internal audit, risk management, and regulatory compliance functions to protect the bank’s assets and uphold operational integrity.
Oversee and execute critical responsibilities that drive the organization’s objectives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Lead and coordinate key initiatives, fostering collaboration across departments to enhance operational efficiency. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain high standards of performance and compliance. Analyze data and metrics to assess progress, identify trends, and recommend improvements for enhanced productivity. Manage stakeholder relationships, providing clear communication and resolving conflicts to support smooth project execution. Mentor and develop team members, cultivating a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Develop and execute a robust, risk-oriented annual internal audit strategy to assess the efficacy of the bank’s internal controls and accounting frameworks.
The Risk Management Framework is tasked with identifying, evaluating, assessing, and mitigating operational, credit, liquidity, and strategic risks spanning all departments and branches.
Ensure strict adherence to all directives issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as well as compliance with FDIC regulations and applicable statutory requirements.
Internal Control Assessment: Conduct evaluations of internal control systems, credit disbursement processes, and financial transactions to identify and mitigate risks associated with errors, fraud, or inefficiencies.
Lead investigations into potential fraud, policy violations, or operational inefficiencies, analyzing findings to identify root causes and propose targeted corrective measures.
Board & Management Reporting: You will compile and deliver comprehensive, impartial periodic reports that outline audit results, risk exposures, and compliance statuses to the Board Audit Committee and Executive Management.
Seeking a highly qualified candidate with a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in industry-standard software. Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities are essential, as the role requires frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams. Leadership experience and a proven track record of driving results are highly desirable. The position demands meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving industry trends is also required.
Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree or a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Minimum five to eight years of professional experience within the financial services sector is required, including at least three years in a leadership position focused on Internal Audit, Risk Management, or Compliance. Applicants must have held supervisory or management roles in either a Microfinance Bank or a Deposit Money Bank.
Professional qualifications, including ACA (ICAN), ARCA, or CIA, are essential for this position to meet the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) fit and proper criteria. Possession of ACID will further enhance your candidacy.
Evidence of enrollment in or completion of the Microfinance Certification Program (MCP) is strongly preferred, and candidates are encouraged to provide relevant documentation.
Proficient in internal audit methodologies, risk assessment frameworks, financial fraud detection, and the CBN Revised Regulatory & Supervisory Guidelines for Microfinance Banks (MFBs).
