This role is essential to missionaries’ mission of inviting others to come unto Christ by assisting them in embracing the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Serving as entry-level support contributors, teachers assist missionaries in developing skills and knowledge across diverse settings and subject areas. Training may encompass language proficiency, gospel doctrine, Preach My Gospel instruction, and broader missionary skill enhancement. Teachers engage with both junior and senior missionaries before their MTC entry, during their time at the MTC, and following their departure from the MTC. They adhere to established curricula and may be chosen to participate in pilot programs and special initiatives.
Oversee and execute a diverse range of tasks to ensure operational efficiency and team productivity, including project planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align objectives, streamline processes, and foster a collaborative work environment. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance workflow, improve quality standards, and drive continuous improvement. Manage budgets, track expenditures, and report on financial performance to maintain fiscal responsibility. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and staff, providing updates, addressing concerns, and facilitating transparent communication. Lead by example, mentoring team members and promoting a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional growth.
Responsibilities include reporting directly to a trainer or supervisor within the Training department.
Delivers guidance, support, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various instructional formats, including individualized coaching, small-group discussions, large-scale workshops, and oversight of Canvas engagement metrics and discussion board interactions.
Plans and develops lesson plans in alignment with the approved curriculum, collaborating with a companion teacher when necessary, to effectively address the missionary’s requirements.
Oversees the strategic planning and financial accountability for missionaries’ educational development.
Executes directives and guidance provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, Manager of Training, and Senior Manager of Training.
Attends weekly training sessions and actively engages in collaborative meetings with co-teachers to ensure alignment and continuous professional development.
Collaborates with regional leadership to facilitate coordination with Mission and Missionary Department leadership as needed.
Provides leadership with updates on the status and advancement of delegated assignments.
Coaches mentor missionaries throughout their preparation phase and during both practice sessions and live lessons.
Candidates might be required to evaluate the language competency of missionary and teacher applicants in the target language.
Individuals may be assigned supplementary duties as Actors, tasked with portraying prospective members who seek to understand the teachings and practices of The Church of Jesus Christ.
As time and availability permit, you may assume supplementary duties as a Training Area Assistant.
Additional duties may also be assigned at the MTC, such as supporting Mission Leadership Seminars, as needed.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal applicant must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in the field is also required.
