The Debt Recovery Officer oversees the recovery of overdue loans, ensuring compliance with established policies while fostering positive client interactions.
This position entails tracking loan performance, interacting with clients who have overdue obligations, facilitating repayment agreements, and guaranteeing that recovery initiatives are executed in strict accordance with company policies.
Job Description
Daily, review the loan portfolio to detect accounts that are either non-performing or past their due dates.
Collaborate with collections officers to evaluate account statuses and determine optimal recovery strategies.
Utilize approved communication channels, including calls and messages, to contact clients in default and facilitate repayment follow-ups.
Draft and distribute official demand notices and follow-up reminders to clients whose financial obligations remain outstanding beyond their due dates.
Facilitate meaningful dialogues with clients to identify the underlying causes of default and investigate viable repayment options.
Craft repayment arrangements and confirm that all mutually agreed terms are accurately recorded and strictly adhered to.
Perform on-site client visits as required, adhering to established company protocols.
Ensure meticulous documentation of all recovery operations and client engagements to uphold precise records.
Forward any challenging or high-risk client accounts to senior leadership for additional review and resolution.
Establish and maintain communication with key stakeholders to identify and locate clients who may have relocated through ethical and professional methods.
Ensure that all recovery operations adhere to ethical principles, professional conduct, and compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
You must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably with expertise in Java, Python, or C++. Familiarity with agile methodologies, version control systems like Git, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are required to thrive in this role. Additionally, you should have experience with database management, API integration, and testing frameworks to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
Experienced professionals with a track record in loan recovery, debt collection, or credit management—ideally with 1 to 3 years of relevant practice—are encouraged to apply.
Able to negotiate effectively and communicate with clarity and professionalism.
Demonstrates a solid grasp of debt recovery methodologies and practices.
Demonstrates the capacity to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations involving challenging clients.
