Position Summary

The Senior PR and Communications Officer will spearhead the organization’s visibility, credibility, and public positioning. This individual will lead the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives, maintain seamless internal and external stakeholder engagement, manage digital platforms, cultivate robust media relationships, and uphold a cohesive and compelling narrative across all communication channels.

This role seeks a strategic communications specialist capable of elevating organizational visibility, fostering deeper stakeholder relationships, advancing advocacy efforts, and aligning all communications with LGCF’s mission, programs, and strategic objectives.

Seeking a candidate with a robust academic background in a relevant field, complemented by substantial professional experience. The ideal applicant must demonstrate proficiency in key technical skills, including but not limited to analytical problem-solving, project management, and effective communication. Prior to work experience in a similar role is essential, along with the ability to adapt to dynamic environments and meet deadlines consistently. A bachelor’s degree or higher national diploma in Communications, Journalism, English, or a closely related discipline is required.

A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a comparable professional capacity is required, ideally gained within a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).

Media Relations and Public Engagement

The Media Relations and Public Engagement team serves as the primary liaison between our organization and external media outlets, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information. This role requires a strategic approach to crafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and managing crisis communications to uphold our brand reputation. Additionally, the team develops and implements public engagement initiatives to foster community trust, including organizing events, managing social media presence, and engaging with stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in media tools, and a deep understanding of public relations principles are essential for success in this position. The ability to work under pressure, adapt to evolving situations, and maintain transparent communication is critical.
