Job Summary
A skilled and meticulous Upholstery Technician is needed to enhance our automobile manufacturing team. This role entails the fabrication, fitting, repair, and installation of vehicle interior upholstery components, such as seats, door panels, headliners, carpets, and additional trims. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship along with a steadfast dedication to upholding quality and safety standards.
Oversee and execute core duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives forward. Ensure adherence to industry regulations and internal policies while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency across all processes. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement through leadership and mentorship of teams. Responsibilities include precisely measuring, cutting, and sewing upholstery materials tailored for vehicle interiors, followed by expert installation to ensure seamless integration and durability.
Skilled technicians are responsible for constructing, assembling, and installing vehicle seats, cushions, door panels, headliners, carpets, and interior trim components with precision and attention to detail.
Inspect, restore, or install new upholstery materials and interior components as needed to maintain or enhance vehicle aesthetics and functionality.
Interpret design specifications, work instructions, and technical drawings to ensure accurate execution of tasks.
Operate a variety of upholstery tools, sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other relevant machinery as needed for production tasks.
Evaluate finished upholstery projects to confirm adherence to established quality benchmarks and fulfill specific customer expectations.
Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality Control teams to verify the precise fit and finish of interior components.
Oversee the inventory of upholstery materials and promptly notify management of any shortages encountered.
Responsibilities include maintaining appropriate handling and storage protocols for fabrics, leather, foam, and additional upholstery materials to ensure their integrity and quality.
Ensure the work area is consistently kept tidy, well-organized, and free from hazards to promote a secure and productive setting.
Ensure strict compliance with established safety protocols and manufacturing standards mandated by the company.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum, is required. Excellent communication abilities and a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects within deadlines are also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies.
A minimum of SSC/WAEC, NAB TEB, Trade Test Certificate, Technical College Certificate, or an equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Making, Interior Finishing, or a related field is required.
A minimum of two to five years of hands-on experience in automotive upholstery, furniture upholstery, or a comparable manufacturing setting is required.
The individual must demonstrate expertise in operating upholstery tools, sewing machines, and cutting equipment proficiently.
Proficient understanding of upholstery materials, including fabrics, leather, foam, and interior finishing techniques, is essential.
Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship in all tasks.
Proficient in analyzing and comprehending technical drawings and specifications with precision and clarity.
Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills are essential for successful teamwork and project execution.
