Job Summary
We are in search of a skilled, creative, and meticulous Technical Design Officer to become part of our automobile manufacturing team based in Abuja. The ideal candidate will assist in the design, development, and enhancement of automotive products and components, while ensuring adherence to engineering standards, quality criteria, and manufacturing guidelines.
Oversee and execute a range of critical duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives. Ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and industry regulations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. Lead initiatives to enhance operational performance, optimize workflows, and foster innovation within the team. Serve as a key liaison between departments, facilitating seamless communication and alignment to achieve collective goals. Monitor progress, analyze key performance indicators, and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership for continuous improvement. Additionally, mentor team members, delegate tasks effectively, and uphold a culture of accountability and professional development.
Develop and revise engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation as required.
Create detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional models of vehicle parts and integrated assemblies with specialized CAD software.
Contribute to the conception, engineering, and refinement of automotive components and integrated systems.
Perform comprehensive engineering calculations, evaluate project feasibility, and carry out detailed design analyses to ensure technical accuracy and optimal performance.
Collaborate on the creation, assessment, and refinement of prototypes, as well as contribute to testing, validation processes, and ongoing product enhancement initiatives.
Partner with Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Engineering teams to validate design practicality and streamline manufacturing processes.
Evaluate designs and propose enhancements to optimize performance, reliability, safety, and cost-efficiency.
Responsible for meticulously documenting all design modifications and maintaining comprehensive technical records.
Maintain adherence to automotive industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Engage actively in product development discussions and offer technical assistance as needed.
Monitor advancements in technology, engineering innovations, and leading industry methodologies to ensure current awareness of developments.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience. Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ is required, alongside familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Design, or a closely related discipline is required.
A minimum of two to four years of hands-on experience in technical design, product development, or engineering design within a manufacturing setting is required.
Seeking candidates with demonstrated expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) tools, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CARIA, Crew, or equivalent software applications.
Possesses a solid grasp of engineering drawing standards and manufacturing processes.
