Job Summary:
The Structural/Site Engineer is tasked with designing, evaluating, and overseeing the structural components of construction projects while managing daily site operations to ensure compliance with design plans, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols. This position involves supervising personnel and subcontractors, allocating resources efficiently, addressing on-site challenges, and facilitating communication between the project manager and field team to guarantee efficient, timely, and budget-conscious project execution.

You will oversee deliverables, allocate resources efficiently, and facilitate communication between stakeholders. Additionally, you are expected to identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and track progress through regular reporting. Produce precise structural drawings utilizing industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Refit, or equivalent platforms.
Transform architectural concepts into detailed structural blueprints with precision and clarity.
Ensure adherence to all relevant local building codes, safety regulations, and structural standards while coordinating with architects, MEP engineers, and additional consultants to produce cohesive, integrated designs.
Oversee on-site construction operations to guarantee compliance with design specifications and stringent safety protocols.
Collaborate effectively with subcontractors, laborers, and suppliers to facilitate seamless progression through each project phase.
Track project advancement and compile concise site updates on a daily and weekly basis.
Collaborate with consultants, subcontractors, and trades people to uphold project timelines, address technical challenges, and enhance operational efficiency.
Perform thorough site inspections and quality assurance assessments to confirm structural integrity and adherence to regulatory standards.
Offer expert technical support to field teams and address engineering-related challenges effectively.
Regularly verify adherence to all applicable local building codes, HSE standards, and regulatory mandates to maintain full compliance at every stage.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is highly desirable. Familiarity with databases, including SQL and NoSQL, and expertise in DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), are required. An understanding of networking concepts and cybersecurity principles is also necessary.
Required is expertise in structural design software, including but not limited to STABS, STAND Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, or ProtaStructure, among others.
Proficient in AutoCAD with expertise in structural detailing is required.
Proficiency in Refit, Civil 3D, or other BIM software applications is highly advantageous.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and construction regulations.
Proficient in developing and analyzing technical drawings, specifications, and engineering reports is essential.

Education:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications include a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a related field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as business administration, finance, or data science. Proficiency in data analysis tools, including Excel, SQL, or Tableau, is highly desirable, as is familiarity with project management methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Prior experience in a leadership or mentoring role, as well as certifications in specialized areas, will be advantageous.
A minimum of five to seven years of hands-on experience in structural design and on-site supervision is required.
Membership or registration with pertinent professional organizations, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (CORE) or the Nigerian Society of Engineers (USE), is required.
Proven track record in delivering projects spanning residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
Proficiency in project management methodologies is highly desirable.
