Develop, execute, and uphold comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure strict compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) regulations, and other applicable legal standards.
Perform thorough safety inspections, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, and identify potential hazards across all production facilities, warehouse spaces, and laboratory environments.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, then draft reports and suggest corrective and preventive measures (CAPA) to mitigate future risks. Additionally, coordinate and conduct safety training and awareness initiatives tailored to employees at every organizational level.
Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized correctly and maintained in proper working condition throughout the facility.
Monitor environmental compliance by overseeing adherence to applicable regulations, with a focus on waste management and effluent control. Maintain meticulous safety records, permits, and documentation to support both internal reviews and external audits.
Engage in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness strategies, while also coordinating and executing routine drills for various scenarios, including fire incidents, chemical spills, and evacuation procedures.
Work collaboratively with Production, General Affairs, and Engineering teams to embed safety measures into routine operational processes.
Conduct comprehensive Job Safety Analyses for operations deemed critical as well as activities classified as high-risk.
Monitor and present vital safety performance metrics to senior leadership for strategic decision-making purposes.
Provide guidance on safety considerations throughout new product launches, process adjustments, and facility upgrades.
Facilitate pre-task safety discussions and briefings prior to the initiation of high-risk activities. Uphold adherence to all relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
Provide safety-related documentation and records to facilitate both internal and external audits, including those conducted by NAFDAC and ISO, ensuring compliance and thorough assessment.
Foster a proactive safety culture and engage employees in safety initiatives actively.
QUALIFICATIONS
Possesses a B.Sc. or HND qualification alongside a Level 3 IS PON Certificate earned at Alaska.
A minimum of three to five years of relevant safety experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sector, is required.
