The well site geologist’s core duties involve overseeing all geological personnel and operational activities at the well site—such as mud logging, Logging While Drilling (LWD), wirelike services, and core handling/processing—and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all geological data acquisition and reporting.

The compilation and distribution of Well Completion Reports, alongside the coordination of Well site Geological Activities (“Operations Geologist”), involves overseeing, monitoring, and managing company-operated well site geotechnical activities.

Monitor and oversee the acquisition and analysis of geologic data at the well site, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process. Post-drill duties involve managing the dispatch of samples, logs, and reports, alongside executing specialized or additional projects as needed.
Responsible for conducting real-time monitoring of abnormal pressure conditions, this role ensures the identification and mitigation of potential risks in operational environments. The position requires a strong background in pressure systems analysis, along with expertise in data interpretation to assess deviations from expected parameters. Key duties include evaluating pressure trends, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining detailed records of observations. Candidates must possess a degree in engineering or a related field, along with relevant experience in pressure management or surveillance. Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring tools and software is essential for effective performance in this critical function.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, complemented by at least three years of experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in database management, API integration, and cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are required to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions, conducting code reviews, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and security standards. Additional qualifications may include familiarity with DevOps practices, Agile methodologies, and experience with front-end frameworks like React or Angular.
BS or MS degree in Geology from an accredited university is required.
With a proven track record in the field as a Well site Geologist, you will oversee critical geological operations during drilling activities, ensuring accurate data collection and real-time decision-making to optimize well performance. Your expertise in interpreting geological formations, identifying potential risks, and providing timely recommendations will be essential to maintaining operational efficiency and safety. A strong understanding of drilling techniques, formation evaluation, and well site data management is required, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives. Ideal candidates will possess a degree in Geology or a related discipline, supplemented by relevant certifications and hands-on experience in well site environments.
Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential, along with strong organizational abilities and effective coordination skills. The ideal candidate must demonstrate proficiency in teamwork and collaboration to ensure seamless project execution and communication.
Offshore experience encompassing drilling operations on platforms and deviated wells, utilizing advanced technologies such as Logging While Drilling (LWD) and Wirelike (WL).
Must maintain excellent physical health and adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols outlined for the project, including obtaining any mandatory rig or country-specific certifications necessary for offshore work.
Successfully completed an OPITO-recognized Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (DUET) course, along with sea survival and Helicopter Safety (HS) training, within the last two years. All certifications must remain valid for the entire projected duration of the project.
Candidates should possess practical expertise in mud logging, including the detailed analysis of cuttings, interpretation of real-time image logs, and correlation of these data to accurately identify lithology and well path.
Proven expertise in directional drilling methodologies, well planning strategies, depth control measurement techniques, and comprehensive knowledge of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) configurations.
Skilled in conducting coring operations is required.
Professional experience in collaborative integrated asset team environments is required.
Experienced in utilizing structural geology principles and techniques to evaluate compartmentalization and connectivity.
Professionals with a track record of collaborating with geologic modelers to integrate maps and their interpretations into three-dimensional geologic frameworks are encouraged to apply.
