The Head of Procurement and Inventory Management oversees the strategic development, implementation, and enhancement of procurement operations and inventory control systems.
The incumbent will oversee cost-effective procurement initiatives, sustain optimal inventory levels, and contribute to the institution’s financial goals. Key responsibilities include executing procurement strategies, managing inventory to meet operational demands, and aligning purchasing activities with established financial objectives.
He/she is expected to;
Formulate and execute a thorough procurement strategy that is fully integrated with the institution’s objectives.
Look for avenues to reduce expenses, enhance operational efficiency, and implement eco-friendly supply chain strategies.
Develop and sustain strategic partnerships with suppliers, engaging in negotiations to secure advantageous terms while consistently evaluating vendor performance and conducting periodic assessments to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
Responsible for managing the complete procurement cycle, including requisitioning and delivery, while ensuring adherence to applicable policies and regulations. Additionally, introduce and enforce procurement best practices, incorporating e-procurement systems as needed.
Monitor inventory turnover to evaluate stock performance, promptly addressing slow-moving or obsolete items while refining stock levels through the development and implementation of streamlined inventory management strategies.
Partner with finance teams to create and oversee procurement budgets, ensuring procurement operations remain within financial parameters and strategic objectives.
Proactively assess and address procurement-related risks to uphold compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies governing all procurement functions.
Direct and oversee the development of procurement and inventory management teams, cultivating an environment that encourages collaboration and drives measurable results.
Create and track procurement and inventory performance metrics, compiling and presenting regular reports for senior leadership with emphasis on key performance indicators.
Seeking a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and the ability to interpret complex datasets. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are essential, along with a proven track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments. Familiarity with industry-specific software and compliance standards is a requirement, and prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is highly advantageous.
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a cognate discipline is required.
A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience is required, with at least three years spent in a leadership or supervisory role.
Proven expertise in procurement regulations, industry best practices, and emerging market trends is essential.
Proficiency in utilizing procurement and inventory management software is required.
