Job Summary:

The Senior Project Risk Engineer plays a pivotal role in proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks throughout every stage of large-scale construction and infrastructure initiatives—spanning initial design, construction execution, commissioning, and final verification phases.

This position entails the creation and ongoing management of robust risk management frameworks and registers, performing both qualitative and quantitative risk evaluations—such as Monte Carlo simulations—and delivering strategic recommendations to address risks associated with scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, and regulatory compliance.

This role involves working closely with project teams, the Project Management Office (PMO), and key stakeholders to proactively detect potential risks, develop strategic mitigation plans, and ensure the successful completion of project goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties Include: Overseeing and executing critical tasks to ensure operational efficiency, managing cross-functional teams to drive project success, developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance performance, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations. Additionally, the role entails analyzing data to identify trends, providing actionable insights to leadership, and fostering a collaborative work environment to achieve company objectives. The position requires strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to dynamic business challenges while delivering measurable results.

Review and analyze project scope, design specifications, cost estimates, and schedule documentation across multiple projects to foster comprehensive understanding.

Conduct risk identification and quantification workshops to systematically incorporate identified risks into the risk register.

Construct Monte Carlo simulations to evaluate and quantify the risks outlined during the workshop.

Compose detailed written assessments of project risks on a monthly basis.

Develop specialized risk management solutions promptly to address emerging project threats.

Actively engage in all QHSE Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Programs without exception.

Attend departmental and project progress meetings to provide updates and contribute to discussions.

Identify and address any unsafe work practices and behaviors immediately, and report them as required.

Ensures the proper execution and compliance with Occupational Health & Safety policies.

Experience

A relevant bachelor’s degree, such as in engineering, construction management, or project management, is required for this position.

A minimum of eight years of specialized experience in engineering and/or project management, with at least four years dedicated to a senior risk engineering role on large-scale projects, is required.

A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience is required.

Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of project controls best practices, processes, and tools.

Proficiency in utilizing Palisade @RISK software for conducting cost risk assessments is required.

Proven expertise in utilizing Primavera Risk Analysis to evaluate and assess project schedule risks effectively.

Proven proficiency in utilizing Primavera P6 scheduling software is required.

Demonstrates an exceptional command of essential Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Progressively responsible experience encompasses involvement in diverse construction projects and programs, such as those related to oil and gas infrastructure and facilities.

A minimum of five years of professional experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, with proficiency in utilizing specialized risk assessment tools, is required.

Hard Skills Required:

Proficiency in a specific software suite, such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Microsoft Office, is essential. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets. Experience with project management tools like Asana, Trello, or Jira is preferred. Knowledge of programming languages, including Python, Java, or SQL, is advantageous. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is beneficial. A solid grasp of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is necessary. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are crucial for conveying technical information clearly.
