Responsibilities:
Overseeing payroll operations entails ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions, in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role involves maintaining precise payroll records, addressing discrepancies, and generating detailed reports for internal stakeholders. Additionally, it requires staying abreast of evolving tax laws and labor regulations to ensure full compliance. Oversee the complete lifecycle of payroll operations for all staff members, guaranteeing precision and prompt payment distribution.
Collect, verify, and align payroll data, encompassing new employee onboarding, terminations, timekeeping records, excess work hours, supplementary payments, deductions, performance incentives, and any necessary modifications to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Compute and distribute monthly and quarterly incentive payments in accordance with established reward policies and performance evaluation frameworks.
Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the role. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal obligations and industry standards to mitigate compliance risks. Implement and enforce policies and procedures that align with current laws and organizational guidelines. Conduct regular audits and reviews to verify compliance across all operational areas. Provide guidance and training to staff on statutory obligations and best practices. Report any discrepancies or potential violations to senior management for immediate action.

Reporting & Analysis:

Your responsibilities include identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities within datasets to inform leadership and drive operational improvements. Proficiency in advanced Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is required, along with strong analytical skills. Experience with statistical analysis and the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise narratives for stakeholders are essential. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to align reporting with business objectives will be a key aspect of this position.
Compile monthly payroll summaries, personnel cost reports, and statutory filings for distribution to management and the Finance department.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to manage and project staff cost budgets and forecasts.
Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of payroll records through meticulous maintenance and secure data handling practices.
Assist the Finance team in generating the annual payroll and HR data reports mandated for financial audits and year-end assessments.
Furnish HR-related data essential for ESG reporting upon request from external investors and partners.
Systems and Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, analyze workflows, and implement enhancements to optimize operational performance and productivity through structured evaluation and strategic modifications.
Ensure the HRIS and payroll systems are consistently maintained and updated to uphold data accuracy and integrity.
Support system enhancements by facilitating upgrades, conducting rigorous testing, and overseeing smooth implementations to ensure payroll and HRIS functionalities fully align with organizational requirements.
Employee & Outsourced Staff Support: You will provide comprehensive assistance to both internal employees and external contractors, ensuring seamless onboarding, ongoing development, and efficient resolution of inquiries. This role involves coordinating orientation programs, addressing performance-related concerns, and facilitating access to necessary resources. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records, monitor compliance with company policies, and collaborate with HR and department heads to enhance workforce productivity and satisfaction. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused mindset are essential for success in this position.
Handle payroll-related inquiries from direct employees promptly and professionally, ensuring transparency regarding deductions, benefits, and payroll procedures.
Act as the primary point of contact for external agencies, overseeing adherence to service level agreements, meticulous record-keeping, staff training, payroll processing, and robust performance management for all personnel managed by these agencies.
Monitor staff attendance, discipline, and performance to ensure adherence to established standards. Verify all statutory remittances, invoices, and monthly submissions for accuracy and compliance. Promptly elevate any concerns regarding absenteeism, non-compliance, or substandard performance to appropriate management for resolution.
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of five years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is required, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are essential, as is the capacity to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. Prior leadership experience is preferred, along with a proven track record of delivering measurable results. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

Proficient in Nigerian payroll regulations, including taxation, pension administration, and labor laws.
