SPIE Global Services Energy is actively seeking a seasoned HVAC Senior Technician to bolster its team in Nigeria, supporting our offshore operational initiatives.

Oversee and execute the primary duties associated with this role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. This includes managing day-to-day operations, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining compliance with established policies and regulations. Additionally, the position requires thorough attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to deliver measurable results in a timely and efficient manner.

The role involves overseeing maintenance and repair operations to ensure facility functionality and safety. Responsibilities include performing routine inspections, troubleshooting equipment issues, and coordinating repair services as needed. The position requires proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with the ability to diagnose problems efficiently. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential, as is the capacity to work independently or in a team. Prior experience in a maintenance or repair role is preferred, and familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols is necessary.

Service and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in control rooms, switchgear rooms, and similar facilities to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Perform diagnostic checks, identify malfunctions, and execute necessary repairs or component replacements to restore functionality.

Maintain positive pressure systems within control rooms to ensure hydrocarbon gas does not enter, adhering to IEC Ex and ALEX standards.

Perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and system upgrades on chillers, packaged units, air handling units (Thus), and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems exposed to harsh, corrosive saltwater conditions.

Remain on call throughout drilling and production activities to provide immediate response as required.

The role involves overseeing the installation and commissioning phases, ensuring all systems are deployed correctly and meet specified performance standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with technical teams to execute installation procedures, conducting rigorous testing to verify functionality, and addressing any issues that arise during the process. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of installation protocols and commissioning methodologies, along with hands-on experience in system integration. Proficiency in troubleshooting and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities include the installation of new HVAC systems, along with the meticulous oversight of piping, ductwork, and electrical connections to ensure proper functionality and compliance with industry standards.

We develop and implement commissioning systems, followed by rigorous performance testing, prior to transferring them to the operations team.

Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, PIDs, and HVAC schematics with precision and clarity. Analyze these technical documents to extract critical information relevant to project execution, troubleshooting, and system design. Ensure accurate comprehension of diagrams to support maintenance, installation, and operational tasks.

Ensures adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and industry standards. Develops, implements, and monitors HSE policies, procedures, and training programs to mitigate risks and promote a culture of safety. Conducts regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken. Collaborates with management and employees to foster a proactive approach to workplace safety.

To uphold adherence to NU PRC safety regulations, ASHRAE best practices, and the organization’s HSE policies.

Before commencing work on energized equipment, ensure the completion of a Permit to Work (PTW), a Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and a Lockout/Ragout (LOT) procedure.

Profile

Individuals should possess hands-on experience in the operations of offshore oil and gas production facilities, with a preference for candidates experienced with Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FASO) units.

Requires a minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in HVAC and refrigeration system repair.

Applicants are required to possess a recognized Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or its equivalent, or have successfully completed an accredited trade apprenticeship. Alternatively, candidates may qualify by finishing a verified technician training program, supported by a minimum duration of relevant work experience.

Able to collaborate efficiently within a team setting.
