Job Summary
The Managing Director will spearhead strategic leadership for the cooperative, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan operations, directing staff performance, and reinforcing financial governance to uphold profitability and long-term sustainability.
Oversee and manage daily operations to ensure seamless workflow, striving for operational efficiency and effectiveness. Lead and guide a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment while assigning tasks and monitoring progress. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to drive growth, innovation, and continuous improvement in processes and services. Monitor performance metrics and key indicators to assess team and organizational success, identifying opportunities for enhancement and corrective actions. Serve as a liaison between departments, facilitating clear communication and alignment of goals to promote cross-functional collaboration. Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards to maintain compliance and operational integrity. Identify training needs and provide coaching or mentoring to enhance team capabilities and performance.
Oversee the daily functions of the cooperative and provide updates to the Board and Executive Committee.
Facilitate expansion of membership, mobilize savings, and advance business development initiatives.
Responsible for managing loan marketing initiatives, overseeing appraisals, handling disbursements, monitoring loan performance, and ensuring timely loan recovery.
Oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage cash flow, and maintain robust internal controls.
Oversee and enhance staff performance, foster effective teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Ensure meticulous documentation, strict adherence to compliance standards, effective risk management, and consistent audit preparedness.
Establish and nurture connections with members, local groups, businesses, and institutions across Cuba and its neighboring regions to foster collaborative opportunities and community engagement.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field required; advanced degrees preferred. Minimum of five years of professional experience in software development, with at least three years specializing in [specific technology or domain, e.g., cloud infrastructure, AI/ML, or cybersecurity]. Proven expertise in [list key skills, e.g., Python, Java, system architecture, or DevOps practices] with a track record of delivering scalable solutions. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers. Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in agile methodologies. Excellent communication abilities to collaborate with stakeholders and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or a related field in commerce or social sciences is required.
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required, including at least 5 years in a managerial role within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.
Experienced professional with a proven track record in marketing, credit administration, accounting, and loan management, coupled with demonstrated leadership in team coordination.
Proficiency in analytical problem-solving and attention to detail are essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools is required, as is the capacity to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment. Prior experience in a similar role, typically gained over at least three years, is mandatory. Additionally, adherence to strict deadlines and organizational standards, along with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, is expected.
