Job Summary

We seek a skilled loan recovery officer to execute operational duties aligned with the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

A loan recovery officer oversees the collection of delinquent loans while fostering constructive customer interactions.

Purpose

To achieve prompt recovery of delinquent loans while mitigating the organization’s credit losses, you will deploy strategic debt recovery initiatives, foster constructive customer interactions, and uphold adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.

Oversee a diverse range of critical tasks encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to ensure organizational objectives are met consistently. Develop and implement comprehensive policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards. Lead cross-functional teams by fostering collaboration, providing mentorship, and delegating responsibilities effectively to drive project success. You will review loan repayment schedules to detect and flag accounts with overdue payments, ensuring timely follow-up on delinquent borrowers.

Utilize phone calls, emails, letters, and in-person visits to reach out to borrowers for the purpose of recovering overdue debts.

Collaborate with customers facing payment challenges to establish mutually agreeable repayment schedules and debt restructuring solutions when required.

Responsible for meticulously documenting all recovery actions and client communications to ensure comprehensive record-keeping.

Conduct thorough analyses to identify root causes behind loan defaults and propose tailored recovery strategies to mitigate financial risk.

Prepare and dispatch formal demand notices and recovery correspondence to borrowers who have fallen behind on their payments.

Work collaboratively with legal representatives and third-party collection agencies to manage complex recovery cases effectively.

Monitor and document recovery effectiveness, delinquency rates, and collection patterns to ensure accurate reporting.

Oversee adherence to established credit policies, regulatory standards, and ethical collection procedures to maintain organizational integrity and legal compliance.

Perform on-site inspections to verify the status and facilitate the recovery of delinquent loans.

Where recovery prospects are limited, recommend pursuing write-offs, repossession, or legal action to management for consideration.

Preserve the confidentiality of customer data and company documents at all times.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience is required. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Familiarity with industry-specific tools, software, or methodologies is advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are necessary. Excellent organizational and time management skills are expected.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field is required.

Obtained a Second Class Upper Division from a recognized university.

With a solid background spanning 3 to 8 years in loan recovery, credit risk assessment, and management, candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of financial processes and regulatory compliance.

Skilled in negotiation and persuasion, with a proven ability to influence and drive favorable outcomes.
