As a Strategic Business Partner, you will be responsible for overseeing operations, driving change initiatives, and delivering risk-informed, solution-oriented analysis, advice, and services. Additionally, you will play a key role in shaping program and management decisions to achieve tangible results for children within defined operational frameworks.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

This position requires fulfilling a range of critical duties and tasks, including executing core functions that align with organizational objectives. Duties encompass a variety of operational, strategic, and administrative activities, all designed to support the department’s goals and contribute to overall success.

With a strong emphasis on systems and structures, focus on enhancing operational centralization to drive further efficiencies and maximize overall performance.

Strengthening both internal and external partnerships is central to the role, enhancing collaboration and maximizing UNICEF’s financial management oversight and expertise across all office functions.

To meet the qualifications for this role, you will serve as a steadfast advocate for every child, ensuring their rights and well-being are prioritized in all endeavors. Your responsibilities will include championing policies and initiatives that safeguard children’s interests, collaborating with stakeholders to address systemic challenges, and providing guidance to families and communities on child protection and development. Additionally, you will conduct assessments, gather data, and develop strategies to identify and mitigate risks to children’s safety and welfare. Strong communication skills, a deep commitment to equity, and the ability to influence change at both the local and global levels are essential for success in this position.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role, and proficiency in industry-standard software tools. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with project management methodologies and prior leadership experience are highly advantageous. The position also requires the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams. Additional certifications or specialized training may be preferred but are not mandatory.

A university degree, specifically a bachelor’s, in Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance, or a related operation function—such as Supply Chain, Human Resources, Information Technology, International Business, or Project Management—is mandatory. Holding a professional license from a globally recognized institution is considered advantageous.

A minimum of two years of professional experience at the national and/or international level is essential, with a focus on one or more areas of operations management, such as budgeting, financial management and reporting, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics management, information and communication technology, or human resources.

Required competencies include: emotional intelligence, financial assurance, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, technical support delivery, and the ability to manage complexity and adapt to change.

English proficiency at an advanced or fluent level is a mandatory prerequisite for this position.

Desirables

Proficiency in an additional official United Nations language—including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish—or a regional language is required.

Proficiency in corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSA) is required, along with substantial experience in either a large private or public sector organization. Familiarity with private sector fundraising methodologies is advantageous, as is prior involvement in supporting client-focused operational units that have achieved measurable success.

Extensive professional experience at the national level, specifically within development initiatives, fragile environments, and humanitarian operations, is essential.
