Job Summary

The Research Associate (RA) is tasked with overseeing the data collection and management processes for research initiatives conducted within the Nigeria Country Office, working under the guidance of the Research Manager.

The Resident Advisor will oversee project field personnel, encompassing field managers, supervisors, and enumerators, while guaranteeing punctual delivery of deliverables to donors and partners.

The Research Associate will oversee a range of responsibilities encompassing the coordination, execution, and oversight of research activities, spanning from initial planning through to implementation and the continuous evaluation of data integrity. This role involves, among other duties:

Key duties include managing daily processes, coordinating cross-functional teams, and implementing efficiency improvements to enhance productivity. Project Management: You will be responsible for overseeing project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and mitigate risks. Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project) is essential. Additionally, you must possess excellent communication abilities to report progress, address challenges, and drive project success.

Developing survey instruments in Survey CTO while adhering to established programming standards and best practices.

Ensuring the meticulous supervision and monitoring of data collection processes to maintain the highest standards of data quality.

Implementing rigorous data quality assurance protocols to identify and resolve discrepancies within collected data sets.

Overseeing project financial management entails developing and maintaining budgets, meticulously tracking expenditures, and producing accurate financial reports to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date data through regular cleaning processes.

Managing routine interactions with Principal Investigators (PI’s) and collaborating partners is a core responsibility.

As the primary liaison between the field staff, research team, and Principal Investigators, you will ensure that the Research Manager is consistently updated on all project developments, serving as a critical communication channel to facilitate seamless collaboration and progress tracking.

Provides strategic technical direction and leadership, guiding teams to achieve innovative solutions and maintain high engineering standards. Oversees the development and implementation of technical strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Drives best practices in system design, architecture, and technology adoption to foster scalability, efficiency, and reliability. Mentors engineers, fostering professional growth and technical excellence while ensuring alignment with business goals. Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and resolve complex technical challenges.

Develop training materials and work closely with the survey firm to facilitate enumerator training and pilot instrument testing.

Overseeing the adherence of all team members to established protocols and procedures is essential.

Consistently provide the Research Manager with timely updates regarding project progress and developments.

Delivering comprehensive training sessions and providing ongoing supervision to research project staff.

Assisting the country office with project and policy development tasks as required.

Conduct comprehensive analysis and generate detailed reports to derive actionable insights from data. Utilize analytical tools and methodologies to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and present findings in a clear, structured format. Prepare and deliver regular performance reports to stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and relevance of the information provided. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reporting standards with organizational objectives and enhance decision-making processes.

Providing support in conducting initial assessments and guaranteeing researchers have seamless access to all necessary data.

Detailed documentation of all project-related activities is required throughout the initiative’s lifecycle.

Responsibilities include meticulously documenting interview details and ensuring the confidentiality of participants when required.

Crafting comprehensive progress and outcome reports for Principal Investigators (PI’s), research collaborators, and funding organizations, ensuring timely distribution.

We develop and create dissemination materials including presentations, final reports, and evidence briefs to effectively communicate findings and insights.

Assigned duties may also encompass additional responsibilities as directed by the Research Manager from time to time.

The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications: a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of three years of experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience with version control systems like Git are also required. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and prior expertise in full-stack development, system architecture, and cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure. Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems, such as Git, is also required. Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset are necessary to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Science, or a closely related field is required, with a graduate degree strongly preferred.

A minimum of two to five years of professional experience is required, with a focus on economics research, impact evaluations, and international development.

Advanced proficiency in State is required.

Proven expertise in collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data is required.

Requires a proven track record in overseeing field-based data collection operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to established protocols.

Exceptional proficiency in crafting clear, concise, and compelling written communication is essential.

Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in client engagement and delivering compelling presentations.

Proficient command of the English language, both written and verbal, is required.
